We are currently looking for an experienced Calibration / Metrology Technician for our Plainfield Indiana location. Working within the Global Quality Excellence organization and as part of Global Calibration Services US Midwest region this role is responsible for calibrating and maintaining a variety of test inspection and measurement equipment to ensure compliance with established this role you will support calibration activities at the Plainfield IN site while contributing to global metrology practices across Medtronic. With a strong focus on quality and compliance you will help enable teams focused on research development innovation and manufacturing

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Perform calibrations and measurements traceable to NISTandthe International System of Units (SI) using appropriatelymaintainedreference standards.Test inspectionand measurement equipment range from general-purpose physical and dimensional equipment to custom built sterilizer systems. Disciplinescomprise: Mass Temperature Humidity Vacuum Length OpticsConductivityPressure Dimensional Metrology ForceTorqueFlow plus more.

  • Create andmodifycalibration procedures bydeterminingmetrology requirements from manufacturers manuals laboratory methods system requirements or other approved documentation.

  • Interact with equipment owning engineers and technicians to schedule calibration activities provide guidance related toselectionof test and measurement equipment and lead others in followingappropriatedocumentedprocedures in place for the Metrology department.

  • Place a strong focus on attention to detail while properly documentingcalibration results intothecalibration trackingdatabase using validated templates or test point grids.Asappropriate issue Out of Tolerance (OOT) or Non-conformance (NC) reports.

  • Work with data acquisition and validation equipment (e.g.process control equipment/controllers chart recorders DC Analog/Signal Conditioners and transducers).

  • Troubleshoot inspect andadjust/repair test and measurement equipment in support of newand existingprojects.

  • Providein-lab andon-site calibration support for equipment that is either too sensitive to move or is too large and notfeasibletorelocate.

  • Work overtime when necessary to supporthigh priorityrequests or meet project goals.

Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • Requires 3 years of experience
  • No minimum education requirement.

Nice to Have:

  • 2years of electronic or physical calibration-related technical school training (60 semester credits) to preferably include metrology and calibration or equivalent military education such as PMEL or like training

  • ASQ Certified Calibration Technician

  • Strong mathstatisticsand physics background

  • Solid technical ability experience in equipment set up and troubleshooting skills

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word Excel Access and PowerPoint) Windows OS Minitab (or other statistical analysis software) andIndySoft(or other calibration tracking database software)

  • Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing techniques interpretingblueprints

  • Experience with MS Excel spreadsheet template developmentand validation testing

  • Involvement in medicaldeviceor other regulated industries

  • Experience with DMAIC problem solving

  • Strong analytical verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to prioritize and execute on daily tasks and long-termobjectivesasdemonstratedby self-prioritizing and managing work requests

  • Knowledge ofcalibration andmeasurement principles: measurement uncertainty measurement traceability measurement standards test uncertainty/accuracyratios measurement system analysis (MSA) SI units calibration intervals and out-of-tolerance reporting.

  • Familiar with these regulations: FDA 21 CFR Part 820 cGMP ISO 13485 ISO 10012 and ISO 17025

  • Familiar with NIST BIPM NCSL ASTM ASMEorother organizations related to metrology measurementsorstandards.

  • Organized efficient process oriented; interpersonal/communication skills; self-motivated; team player; strong work ethic; works well under pressure in a dynamic environment; tactful exercises independent judgment and discretion professional presentation.

For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$59600.00 - $89400.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience certification/education market conditions and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
