Job Description

Job Summary:

The Commodity Manager is responsible for developing and executing strategic sourcing initiatives for assigned commodities to support manufacturing engineering and business operations. This role ensures cost-effective procurement supplier performance and risk mitigation while aligning with corporate goals and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement commodity strategies using total cost of ownership principles.

• Lead RFx processes supplier selection and contract negotiations.

• Monitor market trends and adjust sourcing strategies accordingly.

• Identify evaluate and onboard suppliers in alignment with corporate procurement policies.

• Monitor supplier performance quality and delivery metrics.

• Facilitate supplier risk assessments including cybersecurity and financial health.

• Partner with engineering operations and finance to align procurement with product development and production needs.

• Support new product introductions and cost reduction initiatives.

• Ensure adherence to internal policies and external regulations.

• Maintain accurate procurement records and contract metadata in ERP and sourcing platforms.

• Identify opportunities for process optimization and cost savings.

• Lead initiatives to standardize and streamline procurement workflows.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management Business Engineering or related field.

• 5 years of experience in strategic sourcing or commodity management.

• Strong negotiation analytical and project management skills.

• Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP preferred) and sourcing tools.

• Knowledge of global supply chain dynamics and risk mitigation strategies.

• Professional certifications (e.g. CPSM CPM APICS) are a plus

• Ability to read and understand blueprints/technical drawings and specifications desired

• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs on occasion.
