Business Systems Analyst I:
Hourly: $36.34 to $58.03 hourly
Midpoint: $47.18 hourly

Business Systems Analyst II:
Salary: $85623 to $139896 annually
Midpoint: $112760 annually

Business Systems Analyst III:
Salary: $97786 to $163405 annually
Midpoint: $130596 annually

Grant PUD posts the full hourly range for each position. The midpoint is provided as a reference point and is not a guaranteed starting pay. Starting pay is based on job-related factors such as qualifications experience skills internal alignment and organizational needs. Most new hires are typically placed between the minimum and midpoint of the range.

Position Summary

Grant PUD is seeking a Business Systems Analyst to support the analysis design implementation and ongoing support of enterprise technology solutions. This position partners with business and technology teams to understand business needs improve business processes and deliver technology solutions that align with organizational goals. Depending on qualifications and experience the position may be filled at the Business Systems Analyst I II or III level with increasing levels of independence technicalexpertise and leadership responsibilities.

Business Systems Analyst I:

  • Effectively collaborates with businessâusersâto understand their needs requirements and capability gaps and supports the implementation or development of solutions to increase work efficiency and capabilities.â
  • Develops working knowledge of support systems to provide technical guidance and subject matterexpertiseon the supported systemsand canarticulatesystem capabilitiesdependenciesand constraints.â
  • Collaborateswith business andâtechnologyâteams toâaccomplishâsuccessful delivery ofâTechnology projects.
  • Facilitatescommunications on process changes enhancements and modifications to ensure issues and solutions are agreed to and understood.â
  • Participates in project teamsâby performingassigned withâbusiness process modeling requirements analysis solution wireframing functional specification development andâvarious otherâquality assuranceâand controlâtasks.
  • Develops or supports test plans test scenarios and acceptance criteria; coordinators testing activities and leads user acceptance testing for assigned system changes during implementation and release cycles.
  • Supports multiple projects and initiatives concurrently while meeting assigned deadlines and deliverables.ââ
  • Participates in technology reviews for solution optionsidentifyrisks and recommend improvements to technology capabilities and business processes.
  • Identifies recommendsand implements improvement opportunitieswithin assigned systems processes and work practices.ââ

                Business Systems Analyst II:

                • Partners with business users to understand business needs requirements and capability gaps thenstrategizesandimplementssolutions to increase work efficiency andcapabilities.
                • Responsible for staying abreast ofnew technology methodologies and the software roadmaps for supported systems.
                • Provides technical guidance and subject matterexpertiseon the supported systems portfolio and articulates system capabilities dependencies and constraints.
                • Works closely with the Software Engineering and Technology Operations teams to design develop andmaintainuser interfaces templates data models business intelligencecapabilitiesand data transformations as required by changing business needs and processes.
                • Determinesoperationalobjectivesby studying business functions and gathering requirements from multiple stakeholders to translate business requirements into software requirements
                • Coordinates with business and technology teams toaccomplishsuccessful delivery of Technology projects
                • Analyzes requirements construct workflow charts and diagrams study system capabilities and write specifications based on project functional and non-functional requirements
                • Analyzes current business processes and make recommendations for improvement based on industry trends and professional business knowledge
                • Facilitate communications on process changes enhancements and modifications to ensure issues and solutions are agreed to and understood
                • Contribute and actively collaborate with the technology team(s) and business team(s) to ensure project goals are accomplished
                • Participates in project teams by leading assigned business analysis activitiesincludingbusiness process modeling requirements gathering and various other quality assurance and control tasks.
                • Plans coordinates andfacilitatessystem integration and user acceptance testing activities during implementation and releasecycles. May support multiple projectssimultaneously.
                • Recommends and implements changes to business processes toutilizenew system capabilities and features.
                • Participates in technology reviews with team membersand contributes feedback to improve solution quality and system performance.
                • Leads or serves as a project manager on small to medium technology projects.
                • Identifies evaluates and implements continuous improvement opportunities within assigned systems and functional areas.
                • Develops andmaintainsbusiness functional and technical documentationrequiredto support solution implementation operational support and knowledge transfer.

                                              Business Systems Analyst III:

                                              • Partners with businessâusersâto understand their needs requirements and capability gaps thenstrategizesandimplementssolutions to increase work efficiency and capabilities.â
                                              • Maintainsexpertisein supportedtechnologies bystaying abreast ofnew technology industry best practices methodologies and software roadmaps for supported systems.âââ
                                              • Provides technical leadership guidance and subject matterexpertiseforsupported systems portfolioadvising business and technical teams on system capabilities dependencies constraints and implementation approaches.
                                              • Serves as the technical expert inâthe capabilities of supported applications andâunderstandshow solutions are implemented integratedand deployed within the environment.âââ

                                              • Design new software/system solutions by studying system capabilities analyzing requirements constructing workflow charts wireframes diagrams and writing specifications based on projectâfunctional and non-functionalârequirements.â
                                              • Analyzescomplexbusiness processes andprovidesrecommendations for improvement based on industry trends and professional business knowledge.â
                                              • Facilitate communications on process changes enhancements and modifications to ensure issues and solutions are agreed to and understood.â
                                              • Contribute and actively collaborate with theâtechnologyâteam(s) andâbusiness team(s)âto ensure project goals are accomplished.â
                                              • Leads BSA I - II work in project teams including business process modeling requirements gatheringâandâotherâquality assuranceâand controlâtasks.
                                              • Leads planning coordinationandâfacilitation ofâsystemintegration andâuserâacceptance testingâduring implementation and release support multiple projectssimultaneously.
                                              • Leadsroot cause analysis on reported or discovered problems andanalyzessystems toâidentifyâcapability gaps efficiencyâimprovementsâand growth strategies. Recommends and implements changes to business processes toâutilizeânewâsystem capabilities and features.âââ
                                              • Leads orfacilitatestechnology reviews with team membersto ensure technology solutions align with businessobjectivesand technology standards.
                                              • Coordinates with software vendors systemsâintegrators and support teams and servesas the primary liaison between business users andvendorsâsupport.âââ
                                              • Identifiesand implements improvement opportunities for their job function. Engages in larger department transformation initiatives to improve quality and professionalism of work.
                                              • Provides technical leadershipand guidance toBusiness Systems AnalystI-IIthroughmentoring reviewing complex work products sharing best practices and promoting consistent solution design and delivery approaches.
                                              • Partners withvendors and Grant PUDtechnicalresourcestotroubleshootcomplexissues which may include reviewing code unit testing writing ad-hoc queries for data analysis and engaging with business stakeholders and SMEs tovalidatefixes.
                                              • Leads small tomedium technologyprojects and supports Enterprise Technology Project Managers to ensure successful planningandimplementationoflarger technology projects.

                                                      Required Qualifications (Education Experience Licenses & Certifications):

                                                        Business Systems Analyst I:

                                                        • Bachelors degree OR two (2) additional years experience in lieu of degree.
                                                        • One (1)âyear of experienceinanalytical data management reporting contract administration compliance financial tracking or otherdirectly relatedbusiness experience.

                                                        Business Systems Analyst II:

                                                        • Bachelors degree in information systems Computer Science or other related technical degree or two (2)additionalyears of relevant analysis experience in lieu of degree.
                                                        • Three (3) years experience in a computer technology team in business systems analyst dataanalyst user application support test or development role.

                                                        Business Systems Analyst III:

                                                        • Bachelors degree in Information Systems Computer Science or other related technical degree or two (2)additionalyears of relevant analysis experience in lieu of degree.
                                                        • Six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in a computer technology environment as a business systems analyst systems analyst data analyst user application support software test or development role.

                                                        Preferred Qualifications (Education Experience Licenses & Certifications):

                                                        Business Systems Analyst I:

                                                        • Experience working in a utilities computer environment.
                                                        • Experience working in a mix of Agile SCRUM and Waterfall methodologies
                                                        • Experience in user interface designs/wireframes using current standard design practices for wireframes

                                                        Business Systems Analyst II:

                                                        • Experience working in a utilities computer environment.
                                                        • Experience using work management version control reporting and visualization tools.
                                                        • Experience using technology tools such as; Team Foundation Server/Azure DevOps or Git and or Other Version Control and Technology Work or ticket Management Systems such as BMC Remedy Manage Engine or Zendesk reporting tools such as SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) or Power BI and visualization tools such as Visio or BalsamIQ.
                                                        • Experience reading or working with Programming or Scripting languages such as C# Python PowerShell.

                                                        Business Systems Analyst III:

                                                        • Experience working in a utilities computer environment.
                                                        • Experience working with Web Services APIs API Framework and SOA.
                                                        • Experience working in application architecture networks security and enterprise databases.
                                                        • Professional Project Management Certification such as CAP-M PMP or CompTIA Project.

                                                        Other Knowledge Skills & Abilities

                                                        • Effective communication analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to collaborate with business and technology stakeholders.
                                                        • Knowledge of business systems analysis business process improvement and software development concepts including the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
                                                        • Ability to analyze business needs evaluate alternatives and develop technology solution recommendations.
