Building Maintenance Technician

Job Summary
The Building Maintenance Technician performs a variety of skilled tasks in the maintenance repair and upkeep of buildings grounds and equipment. This position ensures that all facilities are safe functional and well maintained to support staff operations and public access.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on HVAC plumbing electrical systems and mechanical equipment.
- Conduct inspections and preventative maintenance on building systems and infrastructure.
- Complete carpentry drywall painting and other structural repair work.
- Maintain interior and exterior areas including lighting doors windows sidewalks and minor landscaping.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies.
- Maintain records of work performed and materials used.
- Ensure compliance with safety codes regulations and best practices.
- Assist with office setups moves and minor furniture repairs.
- Perform building security duties as required such as monitoring access securing doors and reporting safety or security concerns.
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors as needed.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- 2 years of experience in building maintenance facilities management or related field.
- Valid drivers license with reliable transportation and proof of insurance.
Preferred Requirements:
- Trade certification or vocational training in HVAC electrical or plumbing.
Skills
- Familiarity with building automation or work order systems.
- Knowledge of building systems including HVAC electrical plumbing and carpentry.
- Ability to read blueprints technical manuals and safety instructions.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Skilled in the use of power tools hand tools and maintenance equipment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and recordkeeping skills.
- Basic computer literacy (for logging work orders emails etc.).
- Physical ability to lift 50 pounds climb ladders and work in confined spaces or at heights.
- Traditional office setting with standard business hours.
- Work is performed indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
- May require evening or weekend availability for emergencies or special projects.
- Use of PPE and adherence to safety standards is required.
