Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

In this role you will:

  • Maintain the overall cleanliness and custodial duties of the buildings at the power plant complex and at off-site locations.
  • Perform minor building maintenance activities and other specialized work as directed.
  • Report all unfavorable conditions in writing to the Building and Grounds Crew Leader.
  • Perform mowing clean up trimming brush removal and other tasks required to maintain the grounds at the power plant complex and at off-site locations.
  • Maintains and inspects safety and firefighting equipment.
  • Clear snow from assigned areas of plant ground.



Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidatepossesses knowledge skill and mental development equivalent to the completionof four years of high school; meets the current requirements of the LaborAgreement between District 9 International Association of Machinists andAerospace Workers (IAMAW) and the City of Springfield; is able to obtain andmaintain a valid Illinois commercial drivers license with applicableendorsements; complies with the Facial Hair Policy as it relates to wearingrequired personal protective equipment (respirators); and completes requiredtraining including viewing a Site Awareness video and demonstrating anunderstanding of associated responsibilities. Preference for employment inall positions with the city shall be given to applicants who are full-time cityresidents.
