- 7:00 am 3:30 pm
- The incumbent will be required to be present on project sites and resolve disputed information promptly and accurately. Overtime may be required.
- Candidates will be issued a State vehicle cell phone and tablet. A considerable amount of driving is involved and the individual filling this position is required to maintain a valid Connecticut drivers license.

- Schedules assigns oversees and reviews work of staff;
- Provides staff training and assistance;
- Conducts performance evaluations;
- Determines priorities and plans unit work;
- Establishes and maintains unit procedures;
- Develops or makes recommendations on development of policies and standards;
- Acts as liaison with other operating units agencies and outside officials regarding unit policies and procedures;
- Oversees review of plans and specifications;
- Processes change orders for construction projects;
- Oversees inspection of contractors performance;
- Provides technical advice on construction and maintenance matters;
- Reviews building materials and techniques;
- Develops specifications for construction and maintenance projects;
- Evaluates schedule of values and payments to contractors;
- Reviews construction plans and specifications to ensure compliance with agency requirements;
- Recommends approval of construction and maintenance projects;
- Reviews bids and quotes;
- Reviews staff reports to determine progress of projects;
- Conducts field visits of proposed projects with applicants;
- Assists with technical feasibility determination;
- Assists and coordinates with receipt of state permits and/or certifications related to construction projects;
- Reviews payment applications for consistency with project budget and project progress;
- Performs developmental project management and other duties;
- Supervises design and construction activities;
- May prepare housing damage assessments and supervises construction of temporary housing during disasters;
- Performs related duties as required.

- Licensure as a Municipal Building Official may be substituted for four (4) years of the General Experience.
- Licensure as an Assistant Municipal Building Official may be substituted for three (3) years of the General Experience.
- Building Official Licensure by the State of Connecticut.
- Fire-Safety Code Official Licensure by the State of Connecticut.
- Supervisory experience.
- Experience managing multiple diverse projects of varying scale.
- Experience working on large facility projects and/or multiple commercial and/or industrial buildings.
- Experience with prioritizing and managing assigned projects to ensure compliance and to effectively meet critical deadlines.
- Experience with interpreting and enforcement of contract specifications.
- Experience in documenting all efforts taken to ensure compliance with laws codes regulations ordinances and the Americans with Disabilities Act standards.
- Experience in reading understanding interpreting and applying municipal/state codes rules and regulations in conjunction with report writing.
- Experience using Microsoft 365 including Outlook Excel Word and TEAMS.
- Incumbents in this class may be required to travel.
- Incumbents in this class may be required to possess and retain a valid Motor Vehicle Operators license.
