Job Summary
The Smithsonian Institution is the worlds largest museum education and research complex with 21 museums and the National Zoo. This position is located in Curatorial Office Smithsonian American Art Museum (SAAM) Undersecretary for Museums and Culture. SAAM shares the stories of our nation through American art and craft to inspire reflection spark dialogue and build connections.

The Budget Analyst will be responsible for budget formulation justification and execution and (2) supporting the oversight developmentimplementation and monitoring of multiple Department and office programs from a financial standpoint
In this position you will:
- Perform budget formulation justification and execution and supporting the oversight development implementation and monitoring of multiple Department and office programs from a financial standpoint.
- Monitor and evaluate budget execution to ensure funds are executed in accordance with approved program guidance.
- Study sources of data utilized as the basis for recommendations of fund adjustments between apportionment categories or for new projects not yet within current apportionment.
- Participate with various management officials in developing the strategy for presenting the budget and provide advice on policy implications regulations and legislation.
- Review interpret and implement budget guidance as applicable to budgets for assigned program areas.
- Identify problem areas researche determine and implement corrective courses of action.
- Analyze budgetary relationships and develop recommendations under tight deadlines short and rapid changes in programs and gaps in program and budget objectives.
- Provide advice and guidance to leaders on the interpretation of budget estimates and formulation of budget requests.
- Develop proposed budgetary and procedural guidance develops summary charts and highlights issues with background information so that effective budget decisions can be made.

Experience:You qualify for this position if you have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in the Federal Service. For this positionspecialized experience is definedas formulating justifying and executing budgets and managing and assisting multiple departmentand office programsin a museum cultural center or similar setting.
