Job Summary
STEP 1: APPLICATION FOR FALL 2027
Juniors (Class of 2028) interested in participating in the Biomedical Engineering BSBME/MSE Integrated Program starting fall 2027 (graduating with BSBME and MSE 2029) must complete this application by May 1 2027.
Qualifications required:
- UT Austin BME (biomedical engineering) student currently enrolled in junior-level BME classes (Class of 2028).
- Have less than eighteen (18) semester credit hours (five classes) remaining in BSBME degree and other majors minors and certificates to complete in 2027-2028.
- Minimum 3.0 UT Overall Grade Point Average
- Preference will be given for students:
- in their third year with expected completion of both degrees in five years total. However students in their fourth year who would complete both degrees in six years total are eligible to apply
- who are industry-bound and plan to participate in the Clinical Biodesign program (formerly the Clinical Innovation and Design program).
This application requires:

- Personal Statement
- Scanned PDF of an Official Transcript or Academic Summary which includes all coursework completed through the spring 2027 term.
- Upload a PDF with two references including name title organization phone email and your relationship. UT Austin faculty member references need contact info only; for non-UT references you must also upload a letter of recommendation written by the non-UT reference.
All application components are due May 1 2027.
- UT Austin Biomedical Engineering students currently enrolled in junior-level BME classes
- On track to finish BSBME degree requirements by May 2028
- Preference will be given to students who are completing their BSBME requirements at the end of four years and would finish their MSE at the end of five years
- Have less than eighteen (18) semester credit hours (five classes) remaining in BSBME degree and other majors minors and certificates (including waiver of remaining six technical elective hour requirements)
- Demonstrated ability to succeed in upper-division core BME and engineering classes
- Minimum 3.0 UT Overall Grade Point Average
