Job Summary
Broadcast Systems Technician
WMUR the ABC affiliate in Manchester NH has an opening for a Broadcast Systems Technician. This role is responsible for maintaining and supporting both broadcast and IT systems that keep our stations on the air and operating at a high level. This position is ideal for someone with a strong technical foundation who enjoys troubleshooting learning new systems and working in a collaborative team-oriented environment.
You will work across a wide range of technologies including networking servers broadcast equipment and live production systems. This position reports to the Engineering Director.
Responsibilities
- Maintain troubleshoot and repair broadcast and IT systems to ensure reliable daily operations
- Execute and improve preventative maintenance programs
- Provide technical support to News Production Creative Services Sales and Administration
- Support live broadcasts and remote productions including setup and troubleshooting
- Install configure and maintain networking equipment servers and workstations
- Travel as needed to transmitter sites remote locations and live event venues
- Document systems workflows and technical procedures
- Collaborate closely with engineering and IT team members to support station operations and new technology deployments
Requirements
This role participates in a structured rotating schedule that may include early mornings evenings and weekends. The rotation is designed to provide balanced coverage while ensuring exposure to all aspects of station operations.
Experience with managed network switches and IP-based systems.
Supporting servers workstations and network infrastructure
- Familiarity with broadcast equipment and production environments
- Understanding of TCP/IP networking VPNs and LAN environments
- Experience with Windows desktop and server operating systems
- Cisco VMware Microsoft or similar certifications
- SBE certification
- Military or technical training background
