Bridge Management Engineer (Transportation Engineer)

Under the direction of the Bridge Inspection Section Leader performs Quality Control (QC) reviews of bridge and tunnel inspection reports drafted by in-house staff andconsultants. Assists the Bridge Inspection Section Leader with preparing inspection schedules reviewing consultant cost proposals and assigned task support in-house staff with inspection report writing and database updates.

This position may offer the ability to work remotely within Arizona based upon the departments business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Reviews draft inspection reports for compliance with Bridge Inspection Guidelines and the Specifications for the National Bridge and TunnelInventory Specifications.

Prepares develops and monitors statewide bridge inspection schedules in compliance with Bridge Inspection Guidelines and National Bridge
and Tunnel Inspection Standards.

Reviews consultant cost proposals and task orders for bridge and tunnel inspections.

Knowledge of:

• Principles and Practices ofCivil Engineering as Applied to thedevelopment DesignConstruction andMaintenance of the State Highway System.
• Federal and State regulationspolicies procedures andnational bridge inspection standards.
• Bridge engineering designinspection and maintenance.
• Familiarity with the principles of consultantagreements relationships and QualityControl programs.
• Google workspace.

Skill in:

• Communication and interpersonalrelationships as applied to contactswith other staff within the agencyconsultants and other agency staff
  and representatives of governmentaljurisdictions.
• Oral and written communication.

Applying sound judgment onbridge engineering practices.

Ability to:

• Manage a number of tasks or assignmentssimultaneously.
• Understand relationships andthe role of quality control programs.

A minimum of B.S. degree in Civil Engineering.
A minimum of 2 years experience as a senior bridge engineer (DT Transportation Engineer) or a minimum of 2 years as a nationally
certified bridge inspector.

This position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job and the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current valid class-appropriate drivers license complete all required training and successfully pass all necessary drivers license record checks. The license must be current unexpired and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to drivers license record checks must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R.11).

Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.E.). Candidateswill be required to meet registration requirements set forth by the Arizona Technical Board of Registration andattain an Arizona PE from the Board within 6 months of employment start date.
