Apples Biophotonics group is seeking a scientist to collaborate with an Ru0026D team developing a new generation of bio-sensing technologies. Within Biophotonics you will be part of team with expertise in tissue modeling and validation multivariate analysis and simulation infrastructure development. The roles primary function is to advance the accuracy and physiological realism of the teams skin optical models and to integrate them into shared simulation infrastructure.

You will be responsible for building and validating computational models of light transport in skin to support research objectives. This will involve identifying sources of discrepancy between simulations and experimental data driving improvements to achieve closer agreement and adding physiological realism to capture the complexity of real skin tissue. You will collaborate cross-functionally with an interdisciplinary team and integrate your models along with comprehensive testing and verification code into existing simulation infrastructure. You will communicate technical progress through clear presentations.

BSEE modeling light-tissue interactions ideally in in Python.

Advanced degree (M.S or Ph.D.) in physics applied physics biomedical optics or engineering or a related discipline. nExperience with Monte Carlo ray tracing. nExperience with biomedical optics simulations including translating human skin anatomy and physiology into optical models and validating against experimental applying multivariate analysis methods such as principal component analysis to interpret optical data. nExperience with scientific computing including maintaining and extending simulation pipelines adding new features and writing verbal/written communication skills teamwork and attention to detail.
