Axle is seeking a Biological Scientist to join our vibrant team at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) supporting the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) located in Bethesda MD.

Certifications & Licenses

• Masters degree in Biology Life Sciences or a related discipline.

• Three (3) years of specialized experience plus a Bachelors degree is equivalent to a Masters degree.

• Minimum of four (4) years of experience in biology or a related field.

• Demonstrates experience working in a laboratory environment.

Field of Study

• Miscellaneous Biology

Software

• Experience in Microsoft Office Excel and statistical software such as Prism.

Skills

• Demonstrates knowledge of maintaining accurate and detailed records.

• Demonstrates knowledge of proper laboratory disposal methods and safety procedures.

• Professional knowledge of the theories principles and methods of scientific specialty or subspecialty and related disciplines such as biology microbiology chemistry molecular biology cell biology immunology virology genetics

Deliverables:

• Work products and documents related to maintaining accurate daily records of experiments and results in pen in bound laboratory notebooks - Ad-Hoc

• Work products and documents related to performing a wide variety of complex procedures and techniques - Ad-Hoc

• Work products and documents related to preparing various media stock supplies and other reagents for use in the laboratory - Ad-Hoc

Statement of Work Details:

• Review and research the proper handling and methods of utilization for different biological and chemical materials in regular use in the laboratory - 1
• Maintain accurate daily records of experiments and results in pen in bound laboratory notebooks - 2
• Perform a wide variety of complex procedures and techniques; cell culture DNA analysis DNA isolation DNA purification DNA sequencing flow cytometry gene cloning manipulation of radioactive isotopes - 3

• Provides technical experience needed to assist in studying the basic principles of plant and animal life

• Provide specialized scientific support including participation on the design planning conduct and publication of experiments

• Maintain accurate daily records of experiments and results in pen in bound laboratory notebooks

• Perform a wide variety of complex procedures and techniques; cell culture DNA analysis DNA isolation DNA purification DNA sequencing flow cytometry gene cloning manipulation of radioactive isotopes

• Assists with performing basic laboratory experiments and procedures

• Prepare various media stock supplies and other reagents for use in the laboratory

• Prepares organizes and maintains various lab samples supplies and equipment

• Work with human blood body fluids or tissues or other bloodborne pathogens in the research laboratory

• Perform classification of pathogenic strains isolated from patients

• Learns new laboratory techniques and procedures

• Assist in laboratory supervision of student training such as teaching research concepts and helping with practice for presentation on an ad-hoc basis
