Axle is seeking a Biological Scientist to join our vibrant team at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) supporting the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) located in Bethesda MD.

Certifications & Licenses
Masters degree in Biology Life Sciences or a related discipline.
Three (3) years of specialized experience plus a Bachelors degree is equivalent to a Masters degree.
Minimum of four (4) years of experience in biology or a related field.
Demonstrates experience working in a laboratory environment.
Field of Study

Experience in Microsoft Office Excel and statistical software such as Prism.
Skills
Demonstrates knowledge of maintaining accurate and detailed records.
Demonstrates knowledge of proper laboratory disposal methods and safety procedures.
Professional knowledge of the theories principles and methods of scientific specialty or subspecialty and related disciplines such as biology microbiology chemistry molecular biology cell biology immunology virology genetics

Work products and documents related to maintaining accurate daily records of experiments and results in pen in bound laboratory notebooks - Ad-Hoc
Work products and documents related to performing a wide variety of complex procedures and techniques - Ad-Hoc
Work products and documents related to preparing various media stock supplies and other reagents for use in the laboratory - Ad-Hoc
Statement of Work Details:
- Review and research the proper handling and methods of utilization for different biological and chemical materials in regular use in the laboratory - 1
- Maintain accurate daily records of experiments and results in pen in bound laboratory notebooks - 2
- Perform a wide variety of complex procedures and techniques; cell culture DNA analysis DNA isolation DNA purification DNA sequencing flow cytometry gene cloning manipulation of radioactive isotopes - 3
Provides technical experience needed to assist in studying the basic principles of plant and animal life
Provide specialized scientific support including participation on the design planning conduct and publication of experiments
Maintain accurate daily records of experiments and results in pen in bound laboratory notebooks
Perform a wide variety of complex procedures and techniques; cell culture DNA analysis DNA isolation DNA purification DNA sequencing flow cytometry gene cloning manipulation of radioactive isotopes
Assists with performing basic laboratory experiments and procedures
Prepare various media stock supplies and other reagents for use in the laboratory
Prepares organizes and maintains various lab samples supplies and equipment
Work with human blood body fluids or tissues or other bloodborne pathogens in the research laboratory
Perform classification of pathogenic strains isolated from patients
Learns new laboratory techniques and procedures
Assist in laboratory supervision of student training such as teaching research concepts and helping with practice for presentation on an ad-hoc basis

This role has a market-competitive salary with an anticipated base compensation range listed below. Actual salaries will vary depending on a candidates experience qualifications skills and location.

$105000 - $112000 USD
