Type: Contract
Compensation: $90$110/hour
Location: Remote

Role Responsibilities

• Complete realistic multi-step scientific data-analysis tasks in bioinformatics.
• Write original bioinformatics questions with exact and objective answers.
• Choose and anonymize data from public archives like GEO SRA/ENA ArrayExpress PRIDE PDB MGnify or your unpublished lab data for model analysis.
• Use scientific software code and command-line tools to generate reproducible analyses and structured outputs.
• Develop a Jupyter validation notebook using Python or R to reproduce correct answers.
• Interpret results in the context of biological or translational questions communicating assumptions uncertainty and conclusions clearly.

Qualifications

Must-Have

• Masters or PhD in bioinformatics computational biology genomics statistical genetics quantitative biology or a related field.
• Hands-on experience analyzing sequencing and omics data including RNA-seq WGS/WES variant calling metagenomics or proteomics.
• Experience with tools like samtools bcftools bedtools BWA Bowtie2 BLAST Python (pandas Biopython pysam) or R/Bioconductor (DESeq2 edgeR limma GenomicRanges).
• Ability to write and run Jupyter notebooks that reproduce work exactly.
• Clear precise scientific writing.

Preferred

• Access to unpublished or private datasets you can share.
• Deep knowledge of a niche area such as a non-model organism unusual assay or specialized genomic interpretation.
