Job Summary:
As a Bindery - Operator I you are responsible for the set up operation troubleshooting and maintenance of applicable equipment. The equipment operated includes but is not limited to: Case-In machines Perfect Binders and Saddle Stitchers.
Required Systems/Applications:
- AS400 or Monarch
Essential Functions:
- Set up run and maintain assigned machinery.
- Lead and coach crew members.
- Troubleshoot assigned machinery according to company procedures and practices to assure efficiency and quality to meet the required production schedule.
- Read and understand the written information pertaining to the job.
- Strive to meet or exceed departmental and company goals.
- Interpret and apply department policies procedures and job instructions accurately.
- Communicate effectively with incoming shift personnel to ensure smooth transitions and minimal disruptions.
- Maintain accurate counts.
- Coordinate with supervisors/maintenance on timely repair of equipment
- Follow all safety procedures as set forth by Walsworth.
- Perform preventative maintenance.
- Train new Bindery Operators and crew.
- Monitor production and quality to make recommendations on process improvements.
- All other duties as assigned.

- Ability to learn computer applications as necessary for the position.
- Ability to read interpret and follow verbal and written instructions work procedures and other related materials.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including strong customer service skills.
- Must communicate appropriate information accurately and clearly as needed.
- Ability to troubleshoot.
- Ability to work overtime beyond the standard 40-hour workweek depending on production requirements.
- Ability to be flexible dependable and have a strong work ethic is essential.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands:
- Required to stand or walk for prolonged periods of time.
- Use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects or use controls tools or equipment.
- May require the ability to use a keyboard and other office equipment.
- May require specific vision abilities that include close vision.
- May be required to perform concentrated work for extended periods of time.
- May be required to lift carry or exert items or objects of reasonable weight.
- May be required to perform duties beyond standard business hours.
Minimum Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 6 months of working in a Bindery role.
- Minimum of 1 year of Bindery - Operator II experience or previous Bindery Operator I or equivalent experience
