Job Description:
As a Behavior Support Specialist responsible for assessing our residents and creating Behavior Support Plans. These plans are written documents that describe individual proactive support strategies that are designed to replace challenging behaviors with functional positive behaviors and that identify interventions caregivers can use to deescalate reduce or tolerate the challenging behavior. The strategies must focus on environmental social and physical factors that affect the behavior. You will also be responsible for the development of a Positive Behavior Support plan and Activity plan; teaching activities for designated caregivers on how to implement the plan; monitoring to evaluate the plans impact as needed; reassessment and revision of the plan; and updated teaching and coaching activities.
Shift: Sunday to Thursday or Tuesday to Saturday full time
Compensation Range: $21 to $25 per hour (based on experience level)

Job Responsibilities (not limited to):
- Create a behavior assessment which is started at screening and completed 10 business days after admission
- Create a behavior support plan dedicated for each individual within 15 days of admission
- The behavioral support plan must align with the individuals service plan and must be explained to the resident in a manner that they can understand
- Serve as Liaison to OHS Case Managers
- Provide Individual-specific coaching and group teaching for direct care staff to ensure that direct care staff can implement the strategies defined in each individuals behavior support plan
- Partners with the Health Services team on behavioral education and individualized interventions which will then be communicated through Individual behavior plans to direct care staff
- Consultation to staff and other partners on mitigating behaviors that may place the individuals health and safety at risk to prevent institutionalization
- Monitors and evaluates individual behavioral plans reassesses and revises the plans as needed while providing updated education

Qualifications
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to respond to and manage emergency situations and crisis behavior which may require physical intervention
- Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work activities
- Communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing
- Knowledge of principles and practices of residents needs
- Ability to use and teach creativity in meeting residents emotional and physical needs
- Ability to do many daily tasks via computer i.e. emails spreadsheets etc.
- High degree of integrity in all areas of conduct related to or reflecting on the organization.
- Ability to delegate responsibility while maintaining focus of daily activities
- Knowledge and understanding of state and federal regulations
Education/Experience:
- Minimum 1 year experience in a community-based residential program serving individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities and challenging behaviors
- Degree in Special Education Psychology or Human Services field preferred
- Previous DD group home management experience or any facilities meeting the target group requirements preferred
- At least one or more years of psychology/counseling experience or education preferred
- Valid Oregon drivers license
