Job Summary

Position Summary:

The Behavioral Response Specialist provides specialized behavioral consultation coaching and implementation support to assigned schools experiencing complex student behavioral needs.

Working collaboratively with school teams this position assists in identifying the function of behavior strengthening implementation of behavioral supports and building school capacity to proactively prevent future crises.

The position provides regional consultation and short-term intervention rather than ongoing case management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct and review functional behavior analysis during and after crisis events
  • Develop and revise Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) aligned to student needs
  • Identify environmental triggers and recommend preventative strategies
  • Coach school staff on evidence-based behavioral interventions and supports
  • Collaborate with IEP teams to align crisis response with ongoing behavioral goals
  • Track patterns in student behavior and recommend system-level improvements

Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Applied Behavior Analysis Special Education Psychology or related field
  • Board Certification as a BCBA required
  • DESE Moderate special education certification
  • Experience working with students with emotional/behavioral needs
  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed and strengths-based approaches

The start and end times of BPS schools vary as do the lengths of the school day. Some BPS schools have a longer school day through the Schedule A Expanded Learning Time (ELT) agreement.
