POSITION TITLE: BEHAVIOR SUPPORT COACH REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR OF STUDENT SERVICES
OVER-TIME STATUS: EXEMPT PAY GRADE: 710
JOB SUMMARY:
Performs difficult professional and intermediate administrative work coordinating planning and assisting with Office of Youth Risk Prevention Title I and the Chief Academic Officer. This is sedentary work requiring the exertion of up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects; work requires fingering and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is not subject to adverse environmental conditions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Assist staff in defining and measuring behavior; understanding principles of reinforcement; teaching new behavior; implementing strategies for weakening behavior; and identifying antecedents Design Behavior Interventions Plans that address classroom organization social skills instruction and School-wide Positive Behavioral Support
- Use ongoing assessments to maintain a record of student progress
- Provide recognition of a variety of student accomplishments and positive behaviors
- Conduct conflict resolution and peer mediation sessions
- Support the sustainability and expansion of PBIS practices and character education to identified schools Support school leadership behavior teams
- Provide ongoing training coaching and support to building level PBIS Coaches
- Collect and monitor school databases to track and analyze student behavior data
- Participate in regional/statewide PBIS leadership conferences and meetings to support PBIS initiatives
JOB SPECIFICATIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
General knowledge of techniques needed to successfully complete effective Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) function based interventions and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP).Possess a high caliber of expertise in counseling and student and family support; Ability to work on multiple projects and respond to requests and deadlines in an accurate timely manner; Demonstrated written and oral communication skills; and excellent interpersonal/human relations skills.
This is light work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally up to 10 pounds of force frequently and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects; work requires climbing crouching reaching standing walking lifting fingering grasping and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data operation of motor vehicles or equipment and determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work; the worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions extreme cold noise and vibration.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelors Degree in Education Social Work Counseling Special Education or related field as required.
