JOB GOAL:

To support students with social/emotional/behavioral Difficulties in the school setting by providing specific behavioral management techniques and plans.

REPORTS TO:

Director of Pupil and Professional Services

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for completing and maintaining all required certifications and trainings once employed including but not limited to: Registered Behavior Technician certification in-service and trainings as directed by employment supervisor.

SUMMARY:

To support students with social/emotional/behavioral difficulties in the school setting by providing specific behavioral management techniques and plans. To instruct students using Discrete Trial instruction who require this type of instructional approach. To support the academic instruction presented by the Teacher of record in all school settings as specified in the students Individual Education Plan and Behavior Intervention Plan.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

• Demonstrates an understanding of and ability to apply basic principles of Applied Behavior Analysis in the classroom and other school settings. This includes: objective measurement procedures; assistance with assessment; implementation of skill acquisition programs; and implementation of behavior reduction programs.
• Conducts observations in the school setting using behavioral measurements needed for: skills acquisition programming; assistance with various assessments including FBAs; and data collection relevant to individualized and system wide BIPs.
• Collects and submits data needed for FBAs and BIPs
• Enters data update graphs and maintain program/behavior books as needed.
• Implements BIPs and instructional strategies with integrity as directed by assigned school staff.
• Maintains effective working relationships through collaboration with all members of the students team.
• Coordinates and keeps teaching staff clinical staff and the principal informed of the behavioral status of the student inclusive of other variables that might affect the student (e.g. illness medication...)
• Monitors and ensures students remain in designated locations on school campus.
• Provides mediation in conflict situations between students and other parties to prevent behavioral crisis.
• Prevents and de-escalates harmful behavior in a behavior crisis situation to reduce students risk of injury and ensures safety of others using psychological and physical management strategies.
• Serves on school crisis intervention team.
• Assist in the implementation of school wide positive behavior supports and classroom and individual management procedures.
• Assist in the utilization of approved social skills programs for students school wide in the classroom or individually.
• Commitment to ongoing training arid development as it relates to clinical skills professional development ethics and technology and training in order to perform job responsibilities to required standard.
• Comply with all applicable legal regulatory and workplace reporting requirements as well as all other local state and federal laws and regulations.
• Participates in all staff supervisory and student meetings as assigned.
