Description of Work

The Psychology Department provides comprehensive behavior analysis and psychological services to residents of J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center. These services include but are not limited to behavioral assessment and treatment staff training and management in the provision of behavior support services participation with the Interdisciplinary Team and consultation with other Center staff. The Psychology Department also provides clinical and management consultant services to outside individuals groups and agencies serving people with intellectual disorders and related developmental disabilities including autism spectrum disorder.

Once licensed as a Behavior Analyst through the NCBALB this position can function independent of licensed psychologist oversight otherwise while under the direction of a licensed psychologist this position is considered an ancillary position that provides a range of assessment and treatment services to approximately 25 residents with significant intellectual disorders and related developmental disabilities. Services include providing behavior assessments; participating in interdisciplinary team processes; planning developing and evaluating treatment programs; and providing staff training. Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a systematic approach for influencing socially important behavior through the identification of reliably related environmental variables and the production of behavior change techniques that make use of those findings. Behavior analysts study how biological pharmacological and experiential factors influence behavior and assist the interdisciplinary team in understanding these relationships through their assessment and data.

Licensed behavior analysts are qualified to provide services to residents with a variety of needs including improvements in organizational functioning skill deficits and problem behavior (e.g. aggression self-injurious behavior) among others. They provide services consistent with the dimensions of ABA that may include but are not limited to conducting functional behavior assessments and analyses developing data collection systems and analyzing data writing and revising behavior-analytic treatment plans training others to implement components of treatment plans and overseeing the implementation of treatment plans direct service staff training and/or parent training and may supervise paraprofessionals including Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analysts Behavioral Programming Specialists and other ancillary service staff as assigned.

  • Knowledge of the principles and practice of Applied Behavior Analysis.
  • Certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or in the process of becoming certified as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).

This Position Is Designated As Mandatory And Must Report Or Stay Over During Adverse Weather Events.

Shift Hours: 1st shift (typically 8:00am-5:00pm) Monday Friday with some night and weekend work
