Job Summary
The Third Measure Bartender is responsible for preparing and serving cocktails spirits wine beer and non-alcoholic beverages while providing knowledgeable personalized and attentive service. The ideal candidate is passionate about cocktail culture knowledgeable about premium spirits and classic techniques and comfortable engaging with discerning guests in an intimate high-energy environment.
Responsibilities:
- Consistently provide warm polished professional and engaging service consistent with Third Measure and Fairmont New Orleans standards
- Welcome guests acknowledge them promptly and create genuine connections throughout their experience
- Prepare classic and signature cocktails according to established recipes techniques specifications and presentation standards
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of spirits cocktails wine champagne beer and non-alcoholic beverages
- Maintain detailed knowledge of premium and specialty spirits including bourbon rye whiskey rum tequila mezcal gin vodka cognac and liqueurs
- Demonstrate knowledge of classic cocktail history preparation techniques flavor profiles and appropriate glassware
- Maintain knowledge of Third Measures cocktail program and the inspiration behind its beverage offerings
- Assist guests with beverage selections and provide thoughtful personalized recommendations.
- Demonstrate knowledge of New Orleans cocktail culture and traditions
- Maintain knowledge of food offerings to provide appropriate food and beverage pairing recommendations
- Maintain complete knowledge of ingredients garnishes preparation methods and presentation standards
- Execute proper cocktail techniques including stirring shaking straining building muddling and other methods as required
- Prepare house-made syrups infusions garnishes and other cocktail components according to established recipes and standards
- Open and properly serve wine and champagne when required
- Maintain proper responsible alcohol service practices and comply with all applicable Louisiana alcohol regulations
- Monitor guest consumption and exercise sound judgment regarding alcohol service
- Maintain a clean organized and fully stocked bar throughout service
- Communicate effectively with Barbacks Servers Runners Hosts Culinary Stewarding and leadership
- Assist with VIP experiences special occasions private events and high-profile guests with discretion and professionalism
- Handle guest concerns and service recovery situations professionally and involve leadership when appropriate
- Accurately process guest checks payments and cash transactions
- Follow all cash-handling and credit procedures
- Participate in cocktail tastings menu development training and pre-shift meetings
- Assist with opening and closing procedures inventory stocking cleaning and side work
- Maintain knowledge of Fairmont New Orleans amenities dining outlets events and local attractions
- Maintain a polished and professional appearance consistent with Fairmont New Orleans standards
- Follow all food safety sanitation health and workplace safety procedures
- Uphold the luxury hospitality standards of Fairmont New Orleans and the unique identity of Third Measure
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications :
- Minimum two years of bartending experience preferred
- Previous luxury hotel upscale restaurant cocktail bar lounge or fine-dining experience strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of classic and contemporary cocktails
- Strong knowledge of premium spirits wine beer and cocktail ingredients
- Craft cocktail or mixology experience preferred
- Knowledge of New Orleans cocktail culture is an asset
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong guest service and relationship-building abilities
- Previous POS and cash-handling experience preferred
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Ability to remain polished and composed in a high-volume environment
- Alcohol awareness certification preferred
