Job Summary
Overview:
The AV Design Integrator designs AV system solutions that fulfill the use requirements for Alterman clients/customers. The AV Design Integrator provides support to the project team throughout various phases of the projects.
Essential Functions:
1. Preconstruction & Design Development (50%):
- Meets with clients to gather project requirements and conduct site assessments.
- Researches and analyzes the capabilities of available hardware and software options and provides recommendations to the Project Manager if current systems are inoperable.
- Provides input on hardware and software options for design-assist projects.
- Assists in the development of the Bill of Materials (BOM) based on the agreed scope of work.
- Creates detailed AV drawings including system flow diagrams device layouts installation details rack elevations rigging details and related documentation.
- Develops a technical scope of work for internal field operations teams.
- Assists with technical design bid/service contract pricing and material and labor estimates for proposals as needed.
Support and Coordination (30%):
- Once a project is won approves the AV drawings and rough signal flow diagram and releases them to Project Management for submittal and construction drawings.
- Reviews the specifications and BOM with the Project Manager for post-award processing.
- Provides final design details and conducts a project handoff to the assigned Project Manager.
- Supports and coordinates documentation for changes to the BOM based on site conditions and discussions with the Project Manager.
- Creates AV system drawings and as-built drawings for end users.
- Provides troubleshooting and technical assistance throughout the project lifecycle.
- Evaluates room acoustics reverberation speech intelligibility and other environmental factors.
- Provides support during commissioning including addressing technical questions from field personnel configuring devices and assisting with networking.
and presents potential improvements to policies and procedures to the leadership team. (5%)

Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- At least three years of experience in an AV technical role required.
- CTS certification required. CTS-I and/or CTS-D certifications preferred.
Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Proficient with Bluebeam Revu.
- Able to demonstrate knowledge of network infrastructure.
- Able to demonstrate extensive knowledge of QSC Crestron Extron AMX (and Other Control and Switching System) applications.
- Able to demonstrate extensive knowledge of DSP conferencing devices and audio-conferencing best practices.
- Able to read construction drawings and system wiring diagrams.
- Able to diagnose complex system problems.
- Able to work independently and meet necessary deadlines.
Work Environment:
- Office environment with some travel required.
- Occasional after-hours and/or travel may be required.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to use hands or fingers to handle or feel objects tools or controls; must be able to reach with hands and arms. Manual dexterity associated with computer data entry required.
- Must be able to talk and hear.
- Must be able to frequently sit.
- Must be able to occasionally stand walk climb balance crouch or crawl stoop and kneel.
- Must be able to safely operate a vehicle to travel to and from job sites.
- Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
- Must be able to safely maneuver in a construction environment.
- Close vision distance vision color vision and depth perception are required.
