The Office of Internal Audit an office within the Utah Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is looking to fill an Auditor I position. Join a team of professionals working together to provide independent objective and timely oversight across the DHHS organization! This office assists DHHS leadership in continuously improving operations by providing independent and objective analysis.


The Auditor I is an entry level position who conducts audits reviews and analyzes available information identifies potential issues reports findings interprets results and/or makes recommendations to ensure compliance with federal state and department requirements for the various programs and areas within the DHHS. They also participate in determining the effectiveness of processes and help make recommendations for improvement. The Auditor I requires limited local travel. A MS Excel skill test and/or writing skill test may be given as part of the interview process.


This position may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule which includes both teleworking and in-office work. Please note a positions eligibility for hybrid work is established by agency management and is subject to change at their discretion at any time and for any reason.


The State of Utah requires all employees to physically work inside the State of Utah boundaries.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conducts audits in accordance with professional standards at the direction of a lead auditor.

  • Reviews and analyzes data.

  • Uses Microsoft Word and Excel to perform audit tests and document work performed.

  • Ensures compliance with applicable laws regulations and department policies.

  • Gathers evidence and clearly documents work performed.

  • Summarizes results and makes recommendations.

  • Effectively communicates with team and partners.

Qualifications

  • Interest in getting applicable certification (e.g. CPA CIA CFE CISA).

  • Able to work independently while cooperating in a team environment.

  • Able to communicate information and ideas clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing.

  • Excellent interpersonal analytical and research skills.

  • Skilled using Microsoft Word and Excel

Preference

Preference may be given to candidates who have:

  • A degree in Finance Accounting IT or related area of study

  • Professional work experience conducting audits

  • One of the following certifications: CPA CIA CFE CISA or other related certification

Working Conditions

  • Risks found in the typical office setting which is adequately lighted heated and ventilated e.g. safe use of office equipment avoiding trips and falls observing fire regulations etc.

Physical Requirements

  • Typically the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.
