Job Summary

JOB GOAL:

The Athletics Department Grounds and Facilities Worker is responsible for maintaining a clean safe and well-organized environment for all athletic facilities within the Little Rock School District. This position supports student-athletes staff and the community by ensuring athletic spaces are properly cleaned prepared and maintained for daily use practices competitions and special events. The role requires flexibility to work evenings weekends and holidays as needed based on athletic schedules.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Twelve (12) month (245 day) contract Range 104 plus benefit package. NOTE: Precise placement within the salary range will be determined based upon education and experience. FLSA: Non-Exempt

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent and certification as a landscape industry technician and/or any form of maintenance related certification.

  1. Previous custodial or facilities maintenance experience preferred particularly in athletic or large-facility settings.

  1. Ability to operate custodial equipment and use cleaning chemicals safely.

  1. Acceptable and visible communication skills with the ability to welcome interaction with all member of the school community (students teachers families community).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following statements of duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position.   1. Cleans sanitizes and maintains athletic facilities including gymnasiums locker rooms weight rooms training areas restrooms offices and common areas.
  2. Set up and break down facilities for athletic events practices tournaments and special activities (e.g. seating equipment trash receptacles).
  3. Performs routine floor care including sweeping mopping stripping waxing and buffing athletic floors as required.
  4. Collects and properly dispose of trash and recycling from athletic facilities and event areas.
  5. Maintains inventory of custodial supplies and notify supervisors when reordering is necessary.
  6. Reports safety hazards maintenance issues vandalism or security concerns promptly to appropriate personnel.
  7. Follows district safety procedures proper use of cleaning chemicals and OSHA guidelines.
  8. Assists with emergency clean-ups or weather-related needs affecting athletic facilities.
  9. Supports district events and community use of athletic facilities as assigned.
  10. Tends lawns turf and shrubs by mowing edging and pruning.
  11. Performs other related duties as assigned by the Facilities or Athletics Department administration.

Mental Functions Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit stand walk go up and down stairs operate foot and hand controls use a telephone and write. Occasionally the employee must lift and/or move up to twenty (20) or more pounds. This position requires accurate perceiving of sound near and far vision depth perception handling and working with educational materials and/or objects and providing oral information. Must have the ability to work for the duration of the daily contracted time period and to be physically present and at assigned work with only infrequent unexcused absences during the contract year. Additional technical skills knowledge and abilities may be recommended by immediate supervisor and approved by the Human Resources Director.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS(Describes physical conditions of this position):

Sedentary Work Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift carry push pull or move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Light Work Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time the job is rated as Light Work.

Medium Work Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
