Job Summary
Position Summary:
The Athletic/Activities Director provides leadership coordination and oversight for the districts interscholastic athletic programs and Associated Student Body (ASB) activities. The position ensures compliance with district policies Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) regulations league requirements and state laws while promoting positive student experiences through athletics and extracurricular activities. The Athletic/Activities Director works collaboratively with students staff families coaches advisors and community members to foster educational excellence sportsmanship leadership and student engagement.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated leadership experience in athletics activities education or a related field.
- Successful coaching or athletic program experience preferred.
- Experience supervising mentoring and evaluating staff.
- Knowledge of WIAA rules regulations eligibility requirements and safety standards.
- Knowledge of budgeting and fiscal management.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent written verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to establish positive working relationships with students staff parents officials and community members.
- Ability to resolve conflicts professionally and collaboratively. Valid Washington State drivers license.

Athletic Director Responsibilities:
- Recommend selection of as well as supervise and evaluate coaches
- Plan and coordinate induction for coaches planning and implementing staff development and the creation/updating of a handbook and coach code of conduct.
- Establish clear expectations for staff students and teams.
- Ensure games & school-sponsored competition have adequate supervision and coordinate all aspects of scheduling (buses referees etc.)
- Ensure that coaches have current certification as needed and help coordinate classes and clinics to keep skills requirements updated
- Monitor student eligibility.
- Conflict Resolution: Work with staff students and parents to resolve extra-curricular issues.
- Budget: Inventory purchasing gate receipts ASB monies district monies monitoring all accounts P.O.s in compliance with Washington Athletic Directors Code requirements.
- Tracks and manages inventory of supplies needs and purchases.
- Oversee care and custody of all athletic facilities and conduct regular inspections/evaluation to determine facility needs. Participate in development of master plan for district use.
- Work with coaches to adequately provide inventory and inspect equipment and supplies regularly and make all purchases with appropriate fiscal approvals
- Maintain a presence at home athletic events and work with principals and assistant principals to address discipline concerns
- Work with staff students and parents to resolve extra-curricular issues or conflicts
- Serve as athletic liaison with the school board in collaboration with the superintendent and submit travel requests for athletics and activities to the board in a timely manner
- Attend league and regional meetings and represent interests of the district middle and high school athletics in general
- Reserve buses for all contests and assist coaches in preparing schedules and arrangements regarding transportation meals and lodging
- Arrange for officials for all contests
- Develop the master schedule of all athletic events
- Ensure that all rules regulations directives and safety protocols set forth by the WIAA and district policy are strictly followed.
- Coordinate and guide applicable support staff to maintain eligibility lists records for student physicals and reports of accidents
- Serve as the Districts Title IX Compliance Officer and will complete required trainings associated with this role.
Student Parent and Community Relations:
- Serve as the primary contact for athletic concerns.
- Work collaboratively with students parents coaches staff and community members to resolve concerns.
- Promote positive communication throughout the athletic program.
- Support community involvement in district athletics.
- Represent the district professionally at athletic events and meetings.
Activities Director Responsibilities:
- Provide lunch supervision as available.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Supervise Associated Student Body (ASB) clubs and advisors.
- Coordinate student leadership activities.
- Assist advisors in planning school activities and events.
- Develop and monitor ASB budgets in collaboration with the ASB Advisor.
- Review and approve fundraising requests in accordance with district policy.
- Coordinate assemblies and school-wide activities. Assist with dances ceremonies and special events.
- Promote student participation and leadership opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with ASB accounting procedures and district policies.

Terms of Employment and Salary:
CBAs and Salary Schedules can be reviewed from the Human Resources page of the Deer Park School District website Deer Park policies and Procedures can be accessed online at - $141385.00 per year. Initial placement is based on applicable school district experience. Additional compensation may be available as provided in the negotiated agreement.
