The Associate Vice President is responsible for business development in a specified region working within a team to drive growth and success for the firm by representing Focus Wealth within the Schwab Advisor Network (SAN) referral channel.

The AVP will have significant ownership in developing and executing a go-to-market strategy including assessing opportunities building relationships developing referral sources and establishing an effective approach to generating new business. This role requires a high degree of initiative organization and personal accountability with responsibility for proactively creating opportunities managing multiple priorities and continuously advancing business development activity across the market.

This is a remote position based in Phoenix AZ with regular in-person engagement across Charles Schwab offices in the Phoenix area.

Job Description:


Primary Responsibilities


  • Leverage established custodian referral networks to increase market share and grow the firms book of business.
  • Build and cultivate strategic B2B relationships with Schwab Financial Consultants using persuasive and inspirational communication to establish trust differentiate Focus and motivate consistent client referrals.
  • Build an active pipeline of new client leads and opportunities to meet and exceed individual and firm client growth goals.
  • Maintain a consistent in-person presence with Schwab Financial Consultants building relationships and identifying new referral opportunities while providing high-touch white glove service through regular and thoughtful engagement.
  • Own the full sales cycle from lead generation through closed business.
  • Create and continuously refine a personal business development playbook using market intelligence relationship insights and results to determine where to focus time and resources.
  • Take a proactive approach to building upon your expertise in advanced wealth management strategies and the Focus value proposition.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally between sales marketing and investment strategy group to ensure all sales collateral and proposal materials are effectively telling the Focus story highlighting our unique value proposition and what is most important to each prospective client.
  • Deliver proposals to prospective clients.

Qualifications


  • Bachelors Degree
  • 5 years financial services experience with demonstrated results in business development and sales with wealth management clients; Schwab and Fidelity referral channel experience strongly preferred.
  • Highly entrepreneurial proactive and self-directed with demonstrated ability to assess a market prioritize opportunities develop a business strategy and take action independently.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Salesforce and custodian platforms.
  • Strong background in discussing investments and financial markets with clients.
  • Ability to quickly learn and comprehend complex wealth management strategies and effectively communicate their value.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills with the ability to persuade influence and inspire referral partners.

  • Team player with excellent people skills.
  • Acute attention to detail poised and organized with a keen sense of urgency.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple relationships priorities and opportunities across a geographic market.
  • Versatility flexibility and an ability to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
  • Must be based in the Phoenix AZ area with regular local travel required.
  • Minimal out-of-state travel up to 10% based on business needs.

This position is an exempt position. The annualized base pay range for this role is expected to be between $200000$250000 base salary compensation range. Actual base pay may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience subject matter expertise geographic location where work will be performed and the applicants skill set. The base pay is just one component of the total compensation package. Other rewards may include an annual cash bonus and a comprehensive benefits package including but not limited to medical dental vision life insurance and 401(k).
