Job Summary

Were seeking someone to join our Corporate Financial Reporting team as a SEC Reporting Associate. This role is part of the Corporate Financial Reporting team whose primary responsibility is the quarterly production related analyses and filing with the SEC of Morgan Stanleys consolidated financial reports on Forms 10-K and 10-Q (10-K/Q).

In the Finance division we act as a partner to business units around the globe by providing management review analysis and advisory services of the Firms financial and capital resources. This is a associate position within our Accounting & Regulatory Policy Job Family which is responsible for the firms Accounting Policies under USGAAP and IFRS and Basel Based Regulatory Capital and Liquidity policy.

What youll do in the role:

- Collaborate with a varied group of colleagues in Finance and across the Firm

- Responsible for both individual and team deliverables and projects leveraging knowledge of Finance functional area tools and/or products

- Adhere to the Firms risk and regulatory standards policies and controls

- Act as a culture carrier; embody the Firms values and hold yourself accountable to Firm standards

- Compiling and analyzing detailed financial and non-financial data for inclusion in the 10-K/Q financial reports.

- Authoring various portions of the 10-K/Q including: the Institutional Securities Wealth Management or Investment Management segment results; Liquidity and Capital Resources and Risk Management; and the Financial Statement footnotes among others.

- Coordinating and liaising with multiple stakeholders across the Firm including Treasury Risk Management Legal and other Finance functions to obtain information and draft disclosures directly interfacing with senior management on their feedback and broadly ensuring the 10-K/Q accurately reflects the results of the Firm and the current environment in which it operates.

- Performing research on U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (U.S. GAAP) and SEC disclosure requirements peer disclosures and the Firms own disclosure history to enhance streamline and improve the 10-K/Q.

- Driving various team priorities including playing a vocal role in continuously improving the effectiveness and efficiency of our processes and interactions with our internal stakeholders.

- Identifying opportunities to leverage AI and automation tools to improve reporting processes with a hands-on willingness to test and adopt new technologies as they emerge.

What youll bring to the role:

- Working knowledge of Finance functional area industry and competitive environment

- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely and adapt to various audiences

- Willingness to seek guidance and provide feedback to further develop self and peers

- The ideal candidate will have 3 years of experience with a background in Accounting and/or the Financial Services industry including knowledge of U.S. GAAP as it relates to disclosures and SEC reporting rules.

- Analytical and critical thinking skills with attention to detail and the ability to break down financial information into clear insights.

- Excellent organizational presentation and business writing skills are required for this role.

- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and communicate effectively across functions and levels of seniority.

- A public accounting background or experience in an SEC reporting role is a plus.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word. Knowledge of Workivas Wdesk reporting tool and extensible business reporting language (XBRL) are a plus but not required.

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $85000 and $115000 per year at the commencement of employment. However base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package which depending on the position may also include commission earnings incentive compensation discretionary bonuses other short and long-term incentive packages and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
