Job Summary

Regent Universitys School of Communication and the Arts invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Associate Professor of Communication in the Department of Journalism and Communication Studies. Tenure at appointment may be available for candidates who qualify.

This faculty member will teach across the curriculum with a special focus on graduate communication studies courses and will coordinate the PhD program in partnership with the department chair and dean.

The successful candidate will hold a PhD in communication or a related field by the start date and maintain an active research program engaged with current conversations in the discipline whether social-scientific computational qualitative or critical in method. Candidates must bring an established record of peer-reviewed scholarship and evidence of successful direction of doctoral and masters students. Areas of current interest include artificial intelligence and human-machine communication misinformation and epistemic trust family communication health communication and religion and media though we welcome strong scholars working in any active area of the field.

Dissertation/thesis supervision and program direction of the PhD are part of this appointments assigned load rather than an addition to it. Workload is set with the department chair and dean to reflect the mix of teaching and doctoral supervision the faculty member carries.

The salary range for this position is $80000 to $89000 annually. Salary within this range is commensurate with academic experience a record of scholarship adjudicated in juried forums and demonstrated capacity to teach and serve across the curriculum.

Expectations include 1) a dedication to Christ-centered teaching and learning; 2) an active program of scholarship in the discipline; 3) the ability to teach graduate- and undergraduate-level courses; 4) facility with online instructional technology and demonstrated success teaching in both online and residential formats; and 5) a willingness to embrace the School and University Identity and Mission statements and subscribe to a statement of Christian faith.

The cover letter should describe: your active research program and where your work is headed over the next several years; your readiness to help lead a doctoral program including any relevant curricular or administrative experience; your teaching philosophy including graduate mentoring and experience directing theses or dissertations; and the relationship between your Christian faith and your scholarly and teaching vocation.
