Associate or Full Professor with Tenure

The Department of Global Health at the University of Washington invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of Associate or Full Professor with 50% Tenure with an anticipated start date of January 2 2027. We seek applicants who demonstrate commitment to excellence in research teaching and service in a diverse and inclusive academic community. The successful candidate will join our faculty on a full-time basis for a twelve-month appointment. Associate or Full Professor with 50% Tenure hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June) meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.

The base salary range for this position will be $12000 - $23000 per month ($144000 - $276000 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

The successful candidate will be expected to lead the UW Consortium of Global Mental Health and conduct the following duties:

• Serve as a model and catalyst for Global Mental Health Scholarship at the UW.The successful candidate will be expected to develop a strong record of high-quality and high-impact scholarship in Global Mental Health including the development of sustained independent funding from diverse sources. This scholarship may take the form of innovative research supporting the scale-up of clinical interventions or implementation strategies informing mental health policy and/ or global mental health advocacy.
• Develop a vision and provide leadership for building the UW Consortium of Global Mental Health at the UW. Leadership activities include developing a shared vision for the Consortium facilitating collaborations and synergies among affiliated faculty and partners in and outside of UW and promoting the work of the UW Consortium to external partners policymakers and the public.
• Lead activities to secure funding for the UW Consortium of Global Mental Health. Funding activities will include leading or supporting institutional grants such as center or training grants leading applications for foundation grants close collaboration with UW Advancement and general fundraising for Consortium activities. The candidate will promote collaborations with other centers in DGH and with other departments at the UW School of Medicine and School of Public Health.
• Provide and support high-quality teaching and mentorship for Global Mental Health faculty trainees and staff.The successful candidate will be expected to mentor students faculty and staff and contribute to mentees career development and success.
• Actively promote inclusivity mutual respect welcoming and equal opportunity in the Consortium and the Department of Global Health. Activities will include faculty students staff external partners policymakers and the public.

As a member of the Department of Global Health the candidate would be expected to regularly participate in Departmental activities such as teaching mentoring seminar participation or guest speaking orientation(s) program and department faculty meetings graduation ceremonies search committees conducting research and other relevant academic activities in the Department.

The Department of Global Healths major research educational and capacity-building programs focus on a broad range of health issues including several with strong synergistic links to woman adolescent and child health; HIV and other infectious diseases; mental health; injury and violence prevention; drug safety; health metrics; and health systems strengthening and program delivery. The departments research programs range from interdisciplinary laboratory-based investigation through multi-center clinical trials metrics development program evaluation and implementation science.

Global mental health is a rapidly evolving field of study and service that addresses the mental health of individuals communities and societies through multidisciplinary perspectives. Global mental health researchers practitioners and advocates seek to develop identify and implement social medical legal and public health interventions that promote equity honor human rights and disseminate high quality prevention and care in diverse settings around the world.

The UW Consortium for Global Mental Health is a joint effort of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and the Department of Global Health in the UW Schools of Medicine and Public Health with 9 core faculty who lead ongoing projects in countries such as Kenya Mozambique India Uganda Zimbabwe and Ghana. The Consortium also has a strong focus on training and educating the next generation of global mental health leaders providers researchers and advocates.

Applicants for this position must meet the following minimum qualifications:

• A doctoral degree in a public health or related field (or foreign equivalent). Aclinical degree (MD or DO or foreign equivalent) is also acceptable.
