Job Description:

L3Harris is seeking an Associate Engineer to join the Materials and Process Engineering team within the Missile Solutions segment. This position supports the Materials Laboratory providing materials testing and technical support for both metallic and nonmetallic materials across Space and Defense product lines.

In this role you will perform handson laboratory testing materials analysis and sample preparation while also supporting broader engineering efforts such as research development and failure investigations. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys laboratory work learning new test methods and supporting multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Essential Functions:
Work under direct supervision following detailed instructions established procedures and laboratory protocols.
Perform materials testing including sample preparation materials characterization and Instron mechanical testing.
Support engineering projects by developing test protocols conducting testing and documenting results for research development and failure analysis activities.
Operate laboratory test equipment including vacuum ovens humidity chambers hardness testers viscometers tensile mills and related instruments.
Follow all required safety procedures and use assigned personal protective equipment (PPE).
Handle and work safely with acids caustic chemicals and other laboratory materials.

Qualifications:
To be eligible applicants must be pursuing a bachelors degree in Materials Engineering Chemistry or related field or have completed their bachelors degree within the last 12 months regardless of age.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements the salary range for this role in California is $68000 - $ is not a guarantee of compensation or salary as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
