Job Summary
Associate Managing Director
Seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking leader to drive strong and sustainable growth. As the Associate Managing Director you will lead develop and oversee the overall performance. This role is pivotal in shaping the strategic direction and profitability of multiple underwriting books while managing an individual binding production portfolio. With a balanced focus on leadership and production underwriting you will dedicate approximately 50% of your time to management responsibilities and 50% to production underwriting and client management.

- Lead and manage the Charleston office team including underwriters broker producers and support staff.

- Oversee team performance management including training mentoring and talent retention.
- Attract and retain top talent through effective hiring and promotion strategies.
- Define and implement successful sales and marketing strategies.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with retail agents and underwriter/broker producers.
- Manage the offices Profit & Loss and ensure alignment with corporate goals.
- Partner with corporate headquarters to ensure seamless operations and support.
- Supervise adherence to underwriting guidelines corporate policies and compliance standards.
- Oversee office operations ensuring consistency and quality in processes such as new business opportunities renewals marketing training and staffing.
- Build maintain and grow a book of business in either Commercial or Personal Lines.
- Rate quote and bind risks to determine acceptability coverage and pricing for large or complex renewals and new business.
- Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a sales team leader including direct management experience.
- At least 5 years of multi-line underwriting/production experience with excess & surplus experience preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to lead influence and motivate a team.
- Proven ability to develop and manage strong relationships with clients carriers and third parties.
- Proficiency in sales and marketing strategies.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Insurance license CPCU CIC or comparable designations preferred.
