Youll work directly with our COO/General Counsel and leaders across ALIS getting a front-row seat to how a technology business actually operates. Youll help negotiate commercial agreements support transactions navigate new business opportunities manage risk and solve the everyday legal challenges that come with building and growing a company. Youll see the impact of your advice learn how decisions get made and develop the practical business judgment that is difficult to gain from the outside.

The Basics
Location: Chicago-based.
Schedule: Fully remote work is not available but flexible or hybrid schedules may be available based on performance milestones. Please note that this role is expected to work on-site for the first 90 days of their employment.
Salary: $90000 - $120000
Bar Admission: Licensed attorney in good standing. Illinois admission or eligibility for admission in Illinois preferred.
Sponsorship: We are not able to provide employment sponsorship including OPT or STEM OPT.

What Youll Be Doing
Draft review negotiate and manage a wide variety of commercial agreements including customer contracts vendor agreements NDAs employment agreements and partnership arrangements
Partner directly with business stakeholders to understand priorities identify risks and move agreements to completion
Balance legal protection with practical business outcomes
Improve contract templates clause libraries playbooks and approval processes
Identify opportunities to reduce friction and accelerate routine legal work
Support corporate transactions and related legal workstreams
Assist with corporate governance entity management and compliance initiatives
Serve as a day-to-day legal resource for teams across ALIS
Help stakeholders understand risks tradeoffs and practical paths forward
Build strong working relationships that make Legal a trusted partner rather than a final checkpoint
Participate in special projects as business needs evolve
Coordinate and collaborate with outside counsel/law firms on specialized projects and initiatives
Qualifications :
Youll Thrive in This Role If You
Have 2-3 years of corporate legal experience at a law firm.
Are a genuinely joyful optimistic collaborative hardworking and caring human.
Are a licensed attorney in good standing.
Have meaningful experience drafting and negotiating commercial agreements.
Enjoy contracts and negotiations and take pride in producing thoughtful well-crafted work.
Know when to escalate an issue and when to make a recommendation.
Are comfortable working with ambiguity and building new processes where none exist today.
Communicate clearly with both legal and non-legal audiences.
Take ownership follow through and enjoy solving problems.
