Job Summary

This is an entry level Engineering position that provides an overall understanding of a utility system operation and in particular engineering areas. The Engineer uses existing procedures and processes to solve routine or standard problems. Work is under relatively close supervision.

Responsibilities:

• Perform routine basic engineering analyses designs and calculations using existing procedures and processes to solve routine or standard problems while applying limited judgment and discretion.
• Identifies solutions to straightforward requests.
• Develop basic engineering knowledge.
• Prepare maintain and understand drawings (e.g. schematics one-line diagrams).
• Develop and specify equipment assemble documents and other requirements for basic assignments.
• Develop competencies with departmental design standards applicable engineering codes design criteria and guidelines applicable industry codes and CNG/SCG policies and processes.
• Develops team effectiveness skills within own work team.
• Communicates information and responds to standard internal/external customer requests with assistance from others.
• Review standard internal/external customer requests.
• Works to specify and design systems to address basic situations.
• Apply design standards industry codes design criteria guidelines and company polices/procedures to basic assignments.
• Works within technical guidelines and direction provided by others to meet deadlines.
• Contribute to projects or process teams.
• Develops an awareness of costs related to own work and understands the companys business management practices.
• May contribute to project or process teams.
• Perform basic equipment selection research and recommendations with supportive documentation.
• Individual should have a basic knowledge of engineering theories practices and procedures.
• Able to communicate information ask questions and check for understanding.
• Able to work in a team environment and learn key business processes.

Required Qualifications:

Education & Experience Required:

• BSEE required and 0-2 years of industry related experience.

Technical Skills/Competencies

• Theoretical Engineering knowledge: Planning Operations and Engineering Design Analytics Modeling & Calculation (e.g. sym. Components per unit etc.
• Practical Engineering Experience/Application: Planning Operations and Engineering Design Construction (e.g. field experience standardization develop business case and defend in front of stakeholders).
• Engineering documentation: Ability to adequately document and interpret engineering documentation review and approve engineering work done by others.

Functional Job Specific Competencies

• Power System Studies - Knowledge & Interpretation of Study Assumptions and Results: (e.g. Power Flow Stability Short Circuit etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of Regulatory and Compliance Environment: Local State and Federal Regulatory Standards and Requirements (NERC NPCC ISO PUC etc).
• Software Proficiency - Power System Analytics: (e.g. ASPEN).
