Associate Attorney Coverage

Location: Boston MA (preferred) and New York NY Hybrid Work ScheduleExperience Level: 2-5 years of insurance coverage and related litigation experience preferredDescription: Harris Beach Murtha seeks a mid-level associate to join its Coverage Practice Group. The Associate will represent insurers and other clients in insurance coverage proper claims handling practices and related litigation matters. The ideal candidate will have experience analyzing insurance policies evaluating coverage issues conducting legal research preparing written analyses and pleadings and assisting with the resolution of coverage disputes. This position offers the opportunity to work collaboratively with partners clients and other professionals while handling sophisticated coverage and litigation Coverage Associate will have the opportunity to:Represent insurers and other clients in insurance coverage and related litigation mattersReview and analyze insurance policies pleadings claim files and related materials to assess coverage issues and potential exposureAssist with the evaluation investigation and resolution of insurance coverage disputesConduct legal research and prepare memoranda coverage analyses pleadings motions briefs and discovery documentsParticipate in all phases of litigation including discovery depositions motion practice hearings mediations settlement discussions and trial preparationCommunicate with clients opposing counsel experts and other professionals regarding case strategy and developmentsCollaborate with attorneys across practice areas to deliver exceptional client serviceWork Environment and Expectations:A hybrid work opportunity in Harris Beach Murthas Boston or NYC officeEngagement in sophisticated insurance coverage and related litigation matters on behalf of insurers and other clientsMinimum annual billable requirement of 1800 hoursApplications are encouraged and desired if you have:2-5 years of litigation experience preferably involving insurance coverage mattersJuris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law schoolAdmission to the Massachusetts Bar preferredAdmission in Connecticut New York New Hampshire and/or Rhode Island or eligibility for admission into one or more of those jurisdictions is a plusExcellent legal research writing analytical and problem-solving skillsStrong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlinesDemonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and objective decision-makingExcellent interpersonal communication and client-service skillsAbility to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environmentA high level of professionalism accountability and attention to detailA positive flexible and cooperative attitudeAbility to work effectively with diverse personalities across all levels of the organizationMilitary experience welcomeSalary information below will vary depending upon relevant experience for the position and geographic location. $Harris Beach Murtha is not accepting candidate submissions from recruiting agencies for this position during the first two weeks after posting.
