Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) a member of the Texas A&M University System welcomes applicants for an Assistant/Associate Professor of Special Education to beginFall 2027.
TAMIU is a Hispanic Serving Institution with over 8000 students located in Laredo Texas a vibrant and bicultural city with a population of about 250000. The university advances knowledge through research and discovery teaching and learning community engagement and public service and with an intentional focus on student success and research excellence. For more information please visit is a9-month faculty appointment as a tenure-track assistant professor or a tenured associate professor. Primary duties will includeteaching across modalities including face-to-face and online undergraduate courses and online graduate courses. Duties also includementoring students and serving on departmental college university and professional committees. This position requires face-to-face interactions through a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace.
The mission of the College of Education is to prepare highly effective culturally competent educational professionals who are equipped to understand and assume leadership positions in a global society.
Required Qualifications
The successful candidate must hold adoctorate in Special Education or related field required. ABDs considered for Assistant Professor if degree is completed before appointment. Associate Professor candidates must meet qualifications for rank and tenure. All specializations welcome. Current PreK12 special education certification or eligibility required along with PreK12 special education classroom experience. Demonstrated teaching effectiveness or potential in face-to-face undergraduate and online graduate courses. We strongly encourage candidates with documented record of special education work in public schools; ability to teach in areas that complement and strengthen our current programs; and educational Diagnostician Certification.
