Job Summary
80% Teaching
Teach undergraduate or graduate level courses on various topics in personal and household finance personal financial planning insurance economics finance and/or foundations of business. Potential course assignments for this position include FIN 330 Introduction to Financial Planning and Retirement and FIN 430 Financial Planning Capstone within the Bicknell Certificate in Personal Finance although other course assignments are expected as the program expands. Duties include but are not limited to instruction in the area of finance course preparation consultation and assignment of course grades. Courses may be taught in online or on-campus formats including at the Lawrence and/or Leavenworth campuses. The typical course load for this appointment is eight courses per academic year. Course load and teaching assignments will be determined by the Finance Area Directorto best meet the needs of the School of Business. All faculty members are expected to abide by area school and university policies and procedures.
20% Service
Engage in service both within and outside the school and university including professional and scholarly engagement activities that support instruction and student development. Participate as an active member of the area and engage in instruction-related activities beyond direct instruction. All faculty members are expected to fulfill their share of service duties needed to facilitate the efficient operation of the school. May perform additional position-related activities as assigned by the Dean or Area Director.

Position Overview
This position is a full-time academic-year non-tenure-track Assistant Teaching Professor position in the School of Business at the University of Kansas. The positions primary responsibility is teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in Finance and Economics with a particular emphasis on courses supporting the Bicknell Certificate in Personal Finance KUs CFP program within the School of Business: excellence is a result of the rich tapestry of experiences perspectives and backgrounds of our faculty staff students and colleagues from across our nation and the KU we invest in continuous learning and growth by creating a climate where people engage in respectful dialogue and debate and support each others foster a culture of care where each person is seen heard and people feel a true sense of belonging we believe they are better able to reach their full potential and achieve remarkable things.
This position is subject to a collective bargaining agreement between The University of Kansas and United Academics. UAKU is the exclusive representative for the bargaining unit and it is the candidates right to be a member or not be a member of a union without fear of personal or professional repercussions.
The successful candidate must be eligible to work in the U.S. by the effective date of the appointment. Any employment with the University of Kansas is contingent upon satisfactory completion of a background check.

- Possess a PhD in Finance or closely related discipline OR an MBA or other professional degree in a closely related discipline plus a demonstrated record of scholarship and achievement by the start of the appointment.
- Documented ability or high potential to successfully teach across student populations as demonstrated by prior experience in teaching training leadership or other relevant experience.
