Job Summary
Job Summary:
Serve as the initial point of contact in the school office. Answer phones and greet students and the public. Coordinate the attendance function and communicate information relative to truancy. Coordinate busing and parent drop-off and pick-up and resolve issues as they arise. Account for student meals and ensure accurate accounting in the student management system. Assist in the health room and supervise children in the office as required.
Essential Functions:
- Greet the public and answer phones.
- Assist students and parents in the office and on the phone.
- Supervise attendance functions communicate attendance matters and follow up on absences.
- Collect and enter data; record excuses and school-related absences.
- Assist with registering students and with record requests.
- Monitor arrival/departure of busing and drop-off and pick-up; report concerns to the principal; prepare daily and monthly reports as needed.
- Communicate with parents and the food service department regarding lunch processes and accounts.
- Cashier for lunch or breakfast determining reimbursable meals and entering account information into the Skyward management system.
- Assist in the health room.
- Prepare and submit BECCA paperwork.
- Maintain excellent accuracy in reporting and record-keeping.
- Assist Lead Secretary as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Some post-secondary education is preferred
- Experience in an administrative assistant position preferably in a school district
- Skyward experience preferred
- Strong computer skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Outstanding organizational abilities
- Demonstrated communication skills particularly in stressful situations
- Appreciation and ability to work with students
- Demonstrated ability to contribute in a team setting.

Terms of Employment and Salary:
As outlined by and in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) of Deer Park Association of Education Office Personnel and the Policies and Procedures of Deer Park School District. CBAs and Salary Schedules can be reviewed from the Human Resources page of the Deer Park School District website: Park policies and Procedures can be accessed online at 2025-26 base salary range for this position in the Deer Park School District is between $20.23 and $25.26 per hour. Placement is determined by school district experience. Pay is annualized over 12 months (if hired after Sept spread over remaining months of contract year (Sept-Aug)). Other forms of compensation may be available to the hired applicant in addition to their established salary range or wage scale as defined within the current collective bargaining agreement (CBA).
