Primary Responsibilities
Position Summary The Assistant RN- BSN Program Coordinator and Nursing Faculty member serves a dual role within the Department of Nursing by providing academic leadership student support and administrative coordination for the RN- BSN Program while also fulfilling faculty responsibilities in teaching scholarship service and student mentoring. Working collaboratively with the Director of Post-Licensure Nursing Programs the Assistant Coordinator supports program operations student progression curriculum implementation accreditation initiatives and recruitment and retention efforts. The Assistant RN- BSN Program Coordinator serves as a primary resource for current prospective and incoming RN- BSN students assisting them in educational planning academic success and progression toward degree completion. This position plays an important role in fostering student engagement ensuring compliance with university and nursing program requirements and supporting continuous program improvement. The position reports directly to the Director of Post-Licensure Nursing Programs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Faculty Responsibilities Teach undergraduate nursing courses in the RN- BSN curriculum using evidence-based teaching and learning strategies. Maintain academic and clinical expertise consistent with professional nursing standards and faculty expectations. Advise and mentor students regarding academic progression career development and professional goals. Participate in curriculum development course evaluation and continuous quality improvement initiatives. Engage in scholarly professional and service activities consistent with university and departmental expectations. Serve on departmental college and university committees as assigned. Support compliance with accreditation regulatory and institutional standards. Administrative and Program Coordination Responsibilities Assist the Director of Post-Licensure Nursing Programs with the administration and daily operations of the RN- BSN Program. Provide academic advising and degree planning for prospective newly admitted and currently enrolled RN- BSN students. Develop and implement individualized plans of study including course sequencing and registration guidance to promote timely degree completion. Monitor student progression and identify students who may benefit from academic support intervention referral or retention initiatives. Support students in special populations including conditionally admitted students academically at-risk students returning students and students seeking degree plan modifications. Collaborate with faculty academic support services and university departments to enhance student success and retention. Assist with data collection reporting assessment activities and accreditation-related documentation. Develop and maintain advising resources student success materials and informational communications for students and faculty. Participate in academic orientation programs information sessions recruitment events and student engagement activities. Support the implementation of policies and procedures related to admissions progression retention and graduation. Assist with program evaluation and strategic initiatives designed to enhance program quality and student outcomes. Represent the RN- BSN Program at university community and professional events as assigned. Knowledge Skills and Abilities Knowledge of nursing education curriculum requirements and RN- BSN program standards. Understanding of higher education policies academic advising practices and student success strategies. Strong organizational analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent written verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse student populations faculty staff and community partners. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise professional judgment. Proficiency in educational technology learning management systems and student information systems. Tenure: non-tenured position Reports To: Director of Post-Licensure Nursing Programs. This position combines teaching advising program administration and student success leadership to support the continued growth and excellence of the RN- BSN Program. Security Sensitive: This position is classified as Security-Sensitive and is thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code 51.215 and Texas Government Code 411.094 which authorize employers to obtain and review criminal history record information for applicants.
