Our wide range of programs spanning social services education and recreation reflects our mission to build a more connected inclusive and thriving community for THE ROLE:The Assistant Program Director supports the Program Director in the day-to-day operations of the program ensuring high-quality implementation of programming staff supervision participant engagement and operational excellence. The Assistant ProgramDirector coordinates daily program operations supervises frontline staff and supports the successful implementation of program activities while ensuring compliance with funder agency and regulatory collaboratively with the Program Director and Content Specialist the Assistant Director helps ensure program operations run efficiently while maintaining a safe welcoming and engaging environment for participants families and staff. The Assistant Director may oversee daily operations in the Program Directors absence or as the agency our part-time staff play a crucial role in driving our initiatives forward by supporting daily operations program delivery and organizational to the Program DirectorROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:Agency Expectations:Support agency initiatives by carrying out assigned duties accurately and efficiently while following established processes and contributing to basic data collection reporting or documentation as agency resources responsibly by following established procedures safeguarding equipment and materials and/or supporting cost-effective effectively with supervisors coworkers and cross-department teams to ensure clear communication timely task completion and a positive respectful work all safety protocols policies and procedures to maintain a safe work environment for staff partners and the public and promptly report concerns or Expectations:Daily Operations & Program Implementation:Support the day-to-day implementation of program operations and daily program logistics participant transitions staffing flow and operational troubleshooting during assigned program staff coverage and schedule adjustments to ensure safe and effective program attendance outreach routine family communication and participant engagement daily program implementation and ensure timely follow-through on assigned operational operations during assigned hours escalating operational or programmatic concerns to the Program Director as Support & Supervision:Provide day-to-day supervision guidance and operational support to frontline with onboarding scheduling coaching and performance daily operational priorities and support implementation of program a collaborative accountable and solutions-focused team staffing performance and operational concerns to the Program Director as Support & Compliance:Assist with audits monitoring visits documentation and operational attendance incident reports participant files and required documentation are completed accurately and on inventory purchasing requests supply management and facility compliance with agency procedures health and safety protocols and licensing Quality & Continuous Improvement:Support walkthroughs quality improvement efforts and implementation of action with participant surveys program observations attendance tracking and operational data-informed improvements that strengthen participant engagement and overall program & External Relations:Collaborate with the Program Director Content Specialist school staff families agency departments and community partners to support daily program effective communication with internal and external Commonpoint professionally with participants families schools and community in staff meetings professional development and agency & KEY ATTRIBUTES:MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Associates degree required; Bachelors degree in Education Human Services Social Work Child Development Recreation Public Administration or a related field two (2) years of experience working with youth in educational recreational afterschool or community-based experience providing staff supervision operational support or program coordination supporting daily program operations participant engagement family communication and staff organizational communication customer service and problem-solving QUALIFICATIONS:Previous experience working in a Commonpoint or DYCD-funded with participant management systems attendance databases or reporting systems (e.g. DYCD Connect EZReports Salesforce).Knowledge of School Age Child Care (SACC) regulations and afterschool program skills are ATTRIBUTES FOR ASSISTANT DIRECTOR:Strong organizational and operational management skills with the ability to manage multiple communication customer service and relationship-building to supervise coach and support frontline staff in a collaborative problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to adapt in a fast-paced -oriented with strong follow-through and the ability to manage daily operations with Microsoft Office Google Workspace and online data management to providing safe inclusive and high-quality & BENEFITS:Commonpoint offers competitive base salaries benchmarked against comparable nonprofit organizations in the New York metropolitan area. New hires typically start near the beginning of the salary range to allow for growth based on performance professional development and CONDITIONS & JOB DETAILS:WORKING CONDITIONS:Work is performed primarily in a school or office setting with regular activities conducted in classrooms gyms cafeterias outdoor spaces and other program environments as may require exposure to varying environmental conditions including outdoor weather loud noise and other conditions associated with school-age and community-based the ability to sit stand walk bend stoop reach and use a computer and other office equipment for extended periods throughout the be able to lift and carry materials supplies and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds with occasional assistance for heavier items as flexibility to work occasional evenings weekends and extended hours to support program operations special events training family engagement activities and agency between program sites schools agency locations and community events may be required based on program operational and funding needs. Temporary reassignment to alternate program sites including summer program locations may also be required to support agency DETAILS:Location: 189-10 Radnor Road Hollis NY 11423Work Schedule: MondayFriday. Typical afterschool hours are approximately 2:00 PM6:00 PM.
