Assistant Professor - Teaching B.S. Applied Health Sciences/Medical Laboratory Science
Wayne State University is searching for an experienced Assistant Professor - Teaching B.S. Applied Health Sciences/Medical Laboratory Science at its Detroit campus location.

Essential functions (job duties):
Teach undergraduate courses within the Bachelor of Science in Applied Health Sciences program with an emphasis on professional development healthcare professions medical terminology pathophysiology and related applied health sciences content that prepares students for career and graduate study in the health professions.
Teach courses in the Medical Laboratory Science program in areas of expertise and other related content areas as needed. Preferred disciplines: Immunohematology and Molecular Diagnostics
Meet program accreditation qualifications that include adequate knowledge and proficiency in the discipline content area and teach effectively at the appropriate level.
Contribute and assist program director with accreditation compliance
Participate in professional development activities that contribute to continual learning in the MLS field as well as personal teaching advancements.
Deliver high-quality instruction using evidence-based and student-centered teaching practices.
Foster student learning and success through effective teaching and engagement.
Develop revise and maintain course materials assessments and learning activities that support program and institutional learning outcomes.
Evaluate student performance and provide timely constructive feedback.
Maintain regular office hours and provide mentoring to students.
Support student success retention and progression toward graduate and professional healthcare programs and careers.
Participate in curriculum review program assessment strategic planning and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Incorporate instructional technologies and innovative teaching strategies to enhance student learning.
Participate in program departmental college and university committees and governance activities.
Attend and contribute to department meetings faculty meetings and program-related events.
Assist with student recruitment open houses and community outreach activities.
Engage with alumni professional organizations and community partners as appropriate.
Support program assessment and strategic planning.
Contribute to initiatives that promote student engagement academic excellence and the mission of the department and college.
Perform other duties consistent with the responsibilities of a teaching-focused faculty appointment.

Qualifications:
Masters degree or the ability to earn a masters degree within three years
Relevant teaching experience
MLS(ASCP) or equivalent certification required
Minimum of three years of clinical practice experience in medical laboratory science
Preferred qualifications:
Doctoral degree preferred.
