The College also operates a campus in Canton a satellite location in Middleborough and serves students from more than 45 cities and towns across Southeastern Massachusetts.

Job Description:

Position Overview:

The successful candidate will teach a range of Media Arts courses which may include Television Studio Production Field Production Audio Production Radio/Podcasting Media Writing Digital Storytelling Editing/Post-Production and related introductory and advanced coursework in media performance and media production. Teaching assignments may include in-person daytime courses as well as courses offered through Massasoits Early College Program including courses that run at partner high schools.

Faculty in this are active members in the Communicative Arts Department and strive to create a learner-centered environment focused on access equity hands-on practice and career readiness. Courses in this area emphasize technical competence creative problem-solving professional communication and ethical media practice. Media Arts faculty teach and mentor within an active production environment that includes the Digital Media Arts Center Massasoit Radio and a partnership with local and regional radio stations including 95.9 WATD giving students direct broadcast experience alongside coursework.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Teach courses in Media Arts and related areas in alignment with department needs and faculty expertise.
  • Create and sustain an inclusive collaborative and practice-based learning environment in studio lab and classroom settings.
  • Plan deliver and assess active and applied learning experiences tied to industry-relevant skills.
  • Provide consistent timely and constructive feedback to students on performance production work and written assignments.
  • Evaluate student achievement and assign grades in accordance with departmental and college standards.
  • Maintain accurate student records including attendance assessment data and grades.
  • Hold and post required office hours.
  • Advise and mentor Media Arts students on academic progress transfer options and career pathways in fields such as television audio podcasting and digital media production.
  • Contribute to curriculum review development and assessment within Media Arts programs.
  • Support the professional and safe use of departmental production equipment and industry-standard software including non-linear editing platforms audio recording and mixing tools and broadcast studio systems.
  • Participate in department division and college meetings and initiatives.
  • Support Early College and dual-enrollment offerings as assigned.
  • Monitor and respond to email communications from students and the college in a timely manner.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development related to media production storytelling accessibility and pedagogy.

Additional Duties:

  • Participate in college-wide committees outreach events and recruitment efforts that strengthen the visibility and enrollment of Media Arts programs.
  • Collaborate with Theatre Communication and related areas on interdisciplinary projects live production and co-curricular events.
  • Support student media initiatives such as studio broadcasts podcast projects and live or recorded campus coverage.
  • Potential to contribute to the growth of Massasoits Radio and Podcasting certificate program with a path toward program coordination for the right candidate.
Requirements:

  • Masters degree in Media Arts Media Production Broadcast Production Digital Media Communication or a closely related field;
  • Demonstrated college-level teaching experience in one or more core areas of Media Arts (television studio production field production audio production editing/post-production media writing or podcast/radio performance and production).
  • Professional experience in media production broadcast digital content creation audio or video editing or related industry work.
  • Commitment to working with a diverse student population including first-generation college students dual-enrolled high school students adult learners and students from historically marginalized communities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching at an open-access or community college institution.
  • Experience with curriculum development assessment of learning outcomes and/or program review in Media Arts.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard production tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro and Audition Audacity and Pro Tools along with experience in directing live television operating multi-camera studio productions operating and training on field production and including audio/video/streaming audio capture and mixing lighting for field and studio production and on-air performance.
  • Ability to integrate culturally responsive and inclusive pedagogical practices into studio- and lab-based instruction.
  • Ability to maintain academic and professional standards while supporting students with transparency clear expectations and empathy.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in an interdisciplinary department that includes Media Arts Speech Communication and Theatre.
  • Interest in contributing to the development and growth of Massasoits Radio and Podcasting certificate program.
Additional Information:

Position Status:Full-Time State Funded with Benefits. MCCC/MTA/NEA bargaining unit - Tenure Track Position

Reports To: Dean of Liberal Studies and the Arts

Salary:$58438-$67833 for a full academic-year appointment commensurate with education and experience and based on the MCCC collective bargaining agreement classification compensation tool. Salary is prorated for spring-semester appointments based on the appointment start date and period of service. Compensation is paid over 26 pay periods as applicable.
