Position Summary
The Indiana University School of Public HealthBloomington (SPHB) invites applications for the position of Assistant or Associate Professor of Biostatistics in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics. This 10-month appointment would ideally start August 1 2027 although an earlier or later start date is negotiable. The SPH -B seeks individuals who will contribute to scientific and academic excellence through rigorous research teaching and service in biostatistics with special emphasis on the machine learning and artificial intelligence while advancing interdisciplinary collaboration and the development and application of evidence to improve public health. The Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics advances public health through the study of the distribution and patterns of health events and the development and application of statistical methods to human health research. The department offers a Bachelor of Science in Public Health (B.S.P.H.) in Epidemiology a Master of Public Health (M.P.H.) in Epidemiology a Master of Science (M.S.) in Biostatistics a Ph.D. in Epidemiology and a Ph.D. in Biostatistics. Faculty conduct research across a broad range of health outcomes and exposures and prepare students for careers in academia industry government health agencies and other research settings. The department also houses the Biostatistics Consulting Center which provides study design and data analysis expertise for health-related research and supports interdisciplinary research collaborations across Indiana University and beyond. Responsibilities: Tenure-track faculty are expected to substantially contribute to the overall academic excellence of the department by developing and/or maintaining a robust research portfolio including pursuing and obtaining major extramural research funding to conduct cutting-edge research in modern public health science both as a corresponding principal investigator and a collaborating investigator; teaching and mentoring students at the undergraduate and/or graduate level as designated by the department chairperson; and actively providing service internally to the department school and university and externally to the profession and/or the of special interest include but are not limited to modern machine learning methods artificial intelligence (AI) high-dimensional data analysis and novel clinical trials design.
