The Department of Athletics is seeking qualified applicants for an Assistant or Associate Athletic Trainer position with the sport assignment of Mens Basketball. This is a full-time (1.00FTE) 12-month professional faculty position.
Oregon State University Athletic Training is seeking qualified applicants for an Assistant/Associate Athletic Trainer position with the sport assignment of Mens Basketball. The successful candidate will join a team of Certified Athletic Trainers Athletic Training Fellows and Master of Athletic Training students in providing comprehensive care for the Mens Basketball team. This position is highly collaborative in nature and benefits from the easy access and support of a multidisciplinary health care team.
Located in the mid-Willamette Valley this classic college town enjoys easy access to the Oregon Coast Cascade Mountain range and Oregon wine country. Oregon State prides itself in a tight-knit community atmosphere where all members of the athletic department work to support one another and achieve goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Injury/illness prevention evaluation treatment and rehabilitation.
Practice/event coverage.
Day-to-day communication with coaches supervising athletic trainers and other healthcare providers.
Responsible for supervision of entry-level masters athletic training students assisting in the daily operations of the Athletic Training facilities and administrative duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Both Assistant/Associate Athletic Trainer
Masters degree.
BOC Certified Athletic Trainer.
Minimum of 1 year certified athletic training experience.
Oregon State Athletic Trainer license or eligible.
Certified Health Care Provider (CPR/AED).
The ability to lift/carry/push/pull objects weighing 50 pounds.
Demonstrates excellent written & verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to communicate in a manner that shows respect and inclusivity for all co-workers and internal customers.
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check possess and maintain a current valid drivers license in their state of residence be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.
Additionally if Associate Athletic Trainer:
Minimum of 8 years certified athletic training experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Both Assistant and Associate:
Ability to work in a fast-paced stressful environment.
Basic understanding ofNCAADivision I culture.
Experience working in collegiate athletics.
NBA or NCAA Division 1 Basketball Athletic Training Experience
Additionally if Associate Athletic Trainer:
Demonstrates leadership experience
Demonstrates experience managing complex administrative duties
Demonstrates experience in a supervisory role
Evening and weekend work required.
Exposure to bodily fluids.
Indoor and outdoor working conditions including being exposed to varied climates and weather including heat cold rain snow
Must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
Access to confidential student records.
May have access to persons under 18 years of age.
Access to expensive equipment.
Contingent upon being cleared to drive may be asked to transport student athletes or others within a university owned vehicle or assist with team travel
