Assistant Men's Basketball Coach

Salary and Benefits

Primary Duties

• Assist in the development of game strategies create practice plans and provide on-court instruction to players.
• Coach players individually and in groups monitor academic progress and ensure athletes meet conduct and culture standards.
• Identify evaluate and recruit talented student-athletes who meet the universitys academic and athletic requirements.
• Assist with camp coordination and other program fundraising needs.
• Ensure the program adheres to all NCAA conference and university rules and regulations.
• Serve as a GVSU ambassador engage with media and participate in fundraising and community events.
• Perform other duties as required/assigned by leadership.

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities

• Bachelors Degree
• Experience playing at the collegiate level.
• Experience recruiting and coaching at the collegiate level.
• A thorough understanding of and accountability to NCAA rules and regulations.
• Experience in program planning and teaching.
• Strong commitment to the academic and athletic success of the student-athletes and NCAA compliance with the highest of ethical standards.
• Excellent communication organizational and computer skills.
• Driving a company/university vehicle may be required. A valid drivers license is a requirement and a MVR needs to be conducted upon hire.

Preferred Knowledge Skills and Abilities

• Masters Degree
• Experience playing at the NCAA Division 1 or Division 2 level
• Experience with Teamworks software.

Working Conditions

Normal office environment. Nights weekends and travel are required.
