Job Summary:

As an Assistant General Manager youll play a key leadership role in overseeing all aspects of railroad operations including driving efficiency strengthening customer relationships and supporting the overall success of the business. Youll partner closely with leadership to ensure operations stay on track financially and strategically while building strong teams and community connections.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:

• Full-time (40 plus hours weekly)
• Varying schedule in a 24/7 work environment that includes nights holidays weekends and on-call
• Outdoor work in all weather conditions
• Walking long distances on uneven surfaces and climbing ladders and equipment always ensuring three points of contact in varying environmental conditions
• Able to lift up to 75 pounds from floor to waist and carry short distances
• Able to squat bend and lift overhead
• Have good balance and coordination
• Must meet vision requirements (including color)

Skills and Experience:

• Ability to communicate effectively by letter telephone and personal interview with senior management employees customers railroads regulatory officials and the general public
• Thorough knowledge of railroad operations including but not limited to transportation dispatching marketing maintenance-of-way mechanical and clerical activities
• Management and leadership skills commensurate with the size of staff and property
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules the Code of Federal Regulations and monthly financial reports
• Proficient computer skills and skills in Microsoft Office
• Prior sales and marketing experience preferred
• 5 years of work experience in the railroad industry with supervisory duties; 7 years of experience in the railroad industry preferred

Required Education and Credentials:

• Bachelors degree from a four-year college or university preferred; two years of related experience may be substituted for each year of college
• Certified Locomotive Engineer certification preferred

Employment Requirements:

• Pre-employment physical hearing and vision medical review
• May be subject to federally mandated drug and alcohol testing including pre-employment drug screening
• Background screening including criminal and motor vehicle driving history

Relocation:

Must live within 50 miles of assigned location or be willing to relocate. Relocation assistance may be offered for this position.
