Job Summary
Position Overview
The Assistant Bakery Manager supports the Bakery Manager in overseeing all bakery operations ensuring high-quality baked goods attractive merchandising and exceptional customer service. This role assists in driving sales maintaining food safety standards and leading the bakery team in a fast-paced production and retail environment.
- Assist in managing daily bakery production including baking packaging and product replenishment
- Ensure consistent availability of fresh high-quality baked goods
- Support ordering receiving and inventory control processes
- Monitor shrink and implement actions to minimize waste
- Maintain clean well-stocked and visually appealing bakery displays
- Execute ad plans seasonal features and promotional items
- Ensure accurate pricing labeling and product signage
- Support custom cake orders and special customer requests
- Ensure all bakery products meet company quality and freshness standards
- Follow all food safety sanitation and handling guidelines
- Maintain proper storage labeling and temperature control
- Ensure department is audit-ready at all times
- Provide friendly engaging and helpful service to customers
- Assist customers with product selection custom orders and recommendations
- Resolve customer concerns quickly and professionally
- Promote bakery items seasonal features and specialty products
- Assist in supervising training and coaching bakery associates
- Delegate daily tasks and ensure completion of workload
- Support hiring onboarding and performance development
- Step into leadership role in absence of the Bakery Manager
- Previous bakery food service or retail experience preferred
- Knowledge of baking processes and food handling practices
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced production-focused environment
- Leadership and communication skills
- Frequent standing bending and lifting up to 50 lbs
- Exposure to warm kitchen and production environments
- Flexible schedule including early mornings evenings weekends and holidays
- Product quality freshness and presentation
