The Pattern Finisher is responsible for assembling and finishing complex wax patterns used in the investment casting process. This role involves working with delicate wax components using hand tools and heat-based tools to build precise assemblies that meet strict dimensional and quality requirements.
This is a highly detail-oriented role ideal for candidates with precision assembly experience (electronics small parts aerospace or similar environments).
Key Responsibilities Preparation
Inspect wax components and fixtures prior to assembly
Review and follow technical work instructions (tech cards)
Plan assembly approach based on part complexity and requirements
Assembly & Finishing
Assemble multi-component wax patterns using:
Torches
Hot pencils
Scrapers and hand tools
Work within dimensional fixtures to ensure accuracy and stability
Adjust and manipulate components to correct alignment or fit issues
Perform detailed finishing work to remove imperfections or defects
Inspect assemblies throughout the process to ensure quality standards are met
Quality & Documentation
Verify dimensional integrity of assembled patterns
Identify and report defects or inconsistencies
Follow all process documentation and maintain traceability
Support engineering changes or modifications as needed
Required Qualifications
Ability to perform detailed hands-on assembly work
Experience using hand tools and heat-based tools (torches soldering tools etc.)
Strong attention to detail and quality
Ability to read and follow complex written instructions or technical documentation
Ability to work in a fast-paced team-oriented manufacturing environment
Preferred Experience
Experience with wax pattern assembly pattern finishing or investment casting
Background in electronics assembly micro-assembly or small-part manufacturing
Experience working with delicate or fragile materials
Aerospace or precision manufacturing experience
Physical & Work Environment
Ability to lift and move 30 50 lbs regularly (up to 125 lbs with assistance)
Work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to:
Heat and fumes
Noise
Chemicals and industrial materials
Frequent standing bending and working with hands
