This is an on-site position at Reston Headquarters and Reston Associations Aquatic Facilities. Your seasonal position may require travel to multiple Reston Association sites based on the duties required.

Position Overview

At RA our people are at the heart of everything we do. We are actively seeking a Seasonal Aquatics Maintenance and Facility Assistant to join our team! This position plays a critical role in supporting the safe efficient and high-quality operation of Reston Associations pools spray parks fountains and related aquatic facilities through preventative maintenance repairs inspections and seasonal operational activities.

The Seasonal Aquatics Maintenance and Facility Assistant supports the maintenance repair and operation of Association pool facilities to ensure safe and efficient aquatic operations. This position performs a variety of maintenance tasks including plumbing painting plastering caulking light masonry electrical work and troubleshooting of pool mechanical systems. Responsibilities also include assembling and relocating equipment maintaining facility inventories documenting repairs and assisting with seasonal facility openings. The Aquatics Maintenance and Facility Assistant administer pool chemicals in accordance with chemical labels Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and established safety procedures while monitoring for proper water conditions and potential adverse reactions. This role works in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments including confined elevated and underwater spaces with exposure to chemicals mechanical equipment high temperatures and direct sunlight. The position may require the use of power tools ladders and specialized equipment and supports the overall success of the Aquatics Department through safe work practices accurate recordkeeping and high facility standards.

This position offers 40 hours per week from August November. These hours depend on operational needs and are subject to change.

What Youll Bring

  • Age 18
  • Valid Drivers License with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Current CPR/AED certification or ability to obtain within a specified period after hire.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills along with the ability to remain calm and respond effectively in emergency situations.
  • Ability to work independently prioritize tasks maintain accurate maintenance and inventory records and complete assignments within established timelines.
  • Comfortable working in a variety of environments including outdoors in direct sunlight high temperatures confined spaces elevated areas mechanical rooms and around water and pool chemicals.
  • Proficient in the safe operation of maintenance equipment power tools ladders and Association vehicles; willing to use specialized equipment including SCUBA gear when properly trained.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including frequent standing walking climbing bending kneeling reaching lifting carrying and moving materials and equipment up to 100 pounds with heavier loads moved using assistance when necessary.
  • Capable of hearing emergency whistle alerts from a distance and recognizing visual signals and hand gestures in aquatic environments; corrective eyewear and assistive devices are permitted.
  • Flexibility to work early mornings evenings weekends holidays and on-call shifts as operational needs require.
