Job Summary

Center for Distributed Learning:

The Center for Distributed Learning (CDL) serves as the central agent for online learning at UCF providing leadership in distance learning policies strategies and practices. Our teams consist of motivated developers creators and dreamers dedicated to exploring new technology to enhance teaching and learning at UCF.

The Opportunity:

UCF is seeking a skilled Applications Systems Analyst I to join the this role you will support analysis implementation testing and continuous improvement of digital learning applications and related systems that advance teaching learning and academic operations at UCF. The primary function of this role is software development portfolio management including intake coordination business and system requirements documentation workflow analysis solution planning implementation support and communication among functional stakeholders technical teams and software developers. The position works closely with developers throughout the software development lifecycle to translate stakeholder needs into actionable requirements clarify technical considerations support testing and troubleshooting and ensure development work aligns with functional priorities and operational needs. The role also supports system configuration maintenance upgrades issue resolution documentation compliance and ongoing operations. Hands-on programming experience is strongly desired to support effective analysis troubleshooting technical coordination and collaboration with software development staff. Additional duties may be assigned as needed to support the universitys digital learning mission.

This is an Auxiliary (AUX) funded position. Employment is subject to availability of funding and may cease at the time funding for this employment is depleted.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducts business and systems analysis to support software development portfolio intake requirements gathering prioritization and evaluation of functional and operational needs for custom digital learning applications and related services.

  • Develops and maintains functional requirements process documentation technical specifications and scope summaries to support software development planning implementation and ongoing portfolio management.

  • Analyzes business processes academic and administrative workflows system functionality stakeholder needs and user experience to recommend functional solutions process improvements and service delivery enhancements.

  • Coordinates documentation communication training and change management related activities associated with application enhancements updates service improvements and stakeholder adoption efforts.

  • Supports the application lifecycle for assigned systems through implementation maintenance patches upgrades testing release activities post-implementation support and occasional minor code or configuration updates when needed.

  • Executes functional testing validation code-level troubleshooting when appropriate and documentation of system changes to ensure accuracy reliability compliance and continuity of operations.

  • Assists developers and technical staff in investigating incidents and service issues by documenting findings tracking resolution efforts coordinating stakeholder communication and supporting review of minor code or configuration changes when appropriate.

  • Performs minor code or configuration updates in support of system maintenance and operational continuity.

  • Provides functional and technical support for systems and services including troubleshooting support coordination developer collaboration and communication related to system issues enhancements or service changes.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors degree; or High School Diploma (or equivalent) and 4 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree; or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in engineering management information technology computer science business administration or related field.

  • Certifications in Agile Scrum or related project or portfolio management frameworks.

  • Experience supporting enterprise web-based or digital learning applications in a higher education or similarly complex environment.

  • Experience with software application portfolio management system upgrades release support and post-implementation activities.

  • Experience with hands-on programming including reading writing troubleshooting or supporting application code.

  • Experience with functional testing issue tracking process improvement and documentation of system changes.

  • Experience coordinating stakeholder communication and supporting change management activities related to technology implementations or system enhancements.

  • Knowledge of FERPA ADA WCAG and LTI standards.

  • Knowledge of higher education administrative processes customer support practices and cross-functional coordination in a service-oriented environment.
