SUMMARY:

RBC Bearings through its Aircraft Products Inc. (API) division is seeking an experienced Applications Engineering Team Leader to support a growing and well-established business in Torrington CT. This role combines deep technical expertise in bearing applications with leadership responsibility guiding a team while directly supporting customers and high-performance aerospace systems.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineering leader with extensive experience in rolling element bearing design and application capable of contributing immediately in a fast-paced growth-oriented environment.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead and mentor a team of applications engineers supporting their technical development and career growth
• Design analyze and apply rolling element bearings for high-performance aerospace and industrial systems
• Utilize advanced engineering methods for bearing life prediction lubrication tribology thermal performance and failure analysis
• Provide direct technical support to customers including product selection troubleshooting and performance optimization
• Collaborate cross-functionally with design manufacturing and sales teams to meet customer requirements
• Interpret complex engineering data and translate findings into actionable recommendations
• Serve as a technical expert and key point of contact for both internal stakeholders and external customers
• Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering tools processes and product offerings

QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION:

• Bachelors Degree in Business Supply Chain Engineering Finance Legal Studies or related Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering Aerospace Engineering or a closely related field
• Minimum of 10 years of direct experience in rolling element bearing design and application
• Proven ability to independently design and analyze bearings for demanding applications
• Strong expertise in bearing analysis tools life prediction lubrication tribology thermal behavior and failure analysis
• Prior leadership or team management experience required
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively engage both technical and non-technical audiences
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to deliver results in a dynamic environment
