Job Summary:

We are seeking a seasoned Java Application Support Engineer to provide L2/L3 production support for enterprise Java applications. The ideal candidate will be responsible for monitoring application health troubleshooting production issues performing root cause analysis supporting releases and ensuring high availability and performance of business-critical systems. The role requires strong expertise in Java technologies incident management database troubleshooting and collaboration with development infrastructure and business teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide L2/L3 production support for Java-based enterprise applications and APIs.
• Monitor application performance availability and system health using observability and monitoring tools.
• Investigate and resolve production incidents service disruptions and performance issues within SLA timelines.
• Analyze application logs thread dumps heap dumps and system metrics to diagnose complex issues.
• Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive measures to reduce recurring incidents.
• Support application deployments releases environment management and post-release validation activities.
• Troubleshoot REST APIs microservices middleware integrations and batch processing failures.
• Execute SQL queries for data analysis validation and issue investigation.
• Collaborate with Development Infrastructure DBA Cloud and Business teams for incident resolution.
• Participate in on-call support rotation for critical production issues.
• Drive automation initiatives to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual effort.
• Maintain support documentation knowledge articles runbooks and operational procedures.
• Support change management problem management and incident management processes following ITIL best practices.

Required Qualifications

Technical Skills

• Strong experience in Java J2EE Spring Spring Boot and Microservices.
• Experience supporting RESTful APIs and distributed applications.
• Good understanding of JVM Garbage Collection Thread Management and Performance Tuning.
• Hands-on experience with relational databases such as Oracle SQL Server PostgreSQL or MySQL.
• Strong SQL skills for troubleshooting and data analysis.
• Experience with Linux/Unix environments and shell scripting.
• Knowledge of application servers such as Tomcat JBoss or WebSphere.
• Familiarity with messaging technologies like Kafka JMS or MQ.
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins GitHub Actions Azure DevOps or GitLab CI.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS Azure or Eligible to workP is preferred.
• Experience using monitoring tools such as AppDynamics Dynatrace Splunk Grafana Datadog ELK or New Relic.

Process & Support Skills

• Strong understanding of ITIL processes including Incident Problem and Change Management.
• Experience working with ticketing tools such as ServiceNow Jira or Remedy.
• Ability to manage and coordinate P1/P2 Major Incidents.
• Excellent troubleshooting analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting high-volume banking financial services insurance or enterprise platforms.
• Exposure to container platforms such as Docker Kubernetes or OpenShift .
• Experience with AI-assisted developer tools such as GitHub Copilot or Microsoft Copilot .
• ITIL Foundation certification is a plus.
